why public mobile can count up 31 minutes talking when I only talked 1 minutes.

georgemajia

I  called  to one phone   , talked one minute and public mobile said I talked  31 minutes in this call .

my plan is $10/30 days  , only have 50 minutes to free talk . it means  2 calls like this , I have to pay extra usuage .  Public mobile tries to squeeze money from my $10/30 days . they already  count up minutes for any remote voice mail checking .  Even after I set up disable voice mail.   they still can count up 12 seconds for every my Extended Absence Greeting.  I can accept this operation beacuse it 's inclued in their not clear terms .  But casually computing talking minutes  is not acceptable.

@georgemajia you're in good hands with @Mary_M.  Hopefully you hear back shortly.

FYI it sounds like there are two things being discussed in this thread.  The single 1-min calls showing up as 30 mins is definitely a glitch of some kind and I'm confident Mary can resolve this for you.  Regarding the other discussion, yes, callers getting to your voicemail outbound message (whether it's extended absence or not--so this workaround does NOT work for this plan) counts as call forwarded minutes since the network uses call forwarding to route the call to your voicemail, and unfortunately, call forwarding minutes count against your 50 included minutes.  PM apparently did not originally intend this, but due to system issues they were unable to workaround, they revised the announcement post to try to clarify what actually counts or does not count.

Hey @georgemajia,

thank you so much for reaching out to us and for sharing your experience regarding your 50/50 plan! Sorry to hear that your minutes appear to have decreased by a significant amount. As asked above, is it possible that you made multiple calls, leading to 31 minutes?

Either way, rest assured that we can look into this for you and rectify the situation. Please do send us a private message including your account details and we'll gladly help out 🙂

I look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Mary

Does you usage history show one 31 minute call or is it several calls adding up to 31 minutes?

Georgie Georgie Georgie, my friend. I assure you that PM is not trying to squeeze money out of you. Sometimes things happen (glitch, error, etc.) and unwanted results occur. Public Mobile does not want to charge you 30 minutes for a 1 minute call. Contact the moderators and explain what happened. They may be able to help you.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.  I had a similar problem earlier about having 10 extra text messages that I did not send.  It was a technical problem.  I did contact the moderator, who was very helpful and credited me the extra text messages.  You might want to PM a moderator with your concerns.  Is it possible, that you did not hang up after the call?

This is a way if how to turn off voicemail so you wont have to use it and your minutes wont decrease because of it.

If they indeed charge fee for accessing voice mail from anywhere, and didnt provide a free way to access voicemail, which happens often.  Then public mobile is doing something to people on those $10 plan and use their minutes very quickly, voicemail is use very often.

"Calls to voicemail will deduct from in-plan minutes" is a ambiguous sentence ,  it didn't say the call is from the user's PM phone number  or other phone .  also I asked wal-mart mobie sales. he confirmed it 's not deduted when remoting access voicemail.

@srlawren has a similar guide linked in the thread I mentioned, here's a direct link.

Here is an old post on how to disable voice mail.  Maybe that will help to stem the leakage of minutes.

Actually this RFD post is more descriptive on which number to press to navigate through the voice mail menus.

@georgemajia

Nowhere in Plan Details says that calls to Voicemail from landline phone counts. I think you should send message to Moderator_Team and complain about it. You may get some compensation!

This thread goes over the same thing as well, in case you want to read it. Link

However, I think @MacMe has solved this quite nicely.

If you look under offer details of the plan, it says "Calls to voicemail will deduct from in-plan minutes"

I thought that if you access your Voicemail from landline phone it does not count.

All minutes accessing Voicemail from mobile counts!

Hi,

I am new to PM and just activated my phone. when I call voicemail  from a land line phone, am I using up minutes?  I accessed my voicemail account to set it up and my usage history shows the Outgoing calls to a number 6475804001 and my number of minutes is down by the time I spent accessing voicemail. Is this normal? My plan is 30 days $10 .  I understand access voice mail from the my public mobile phone will using up minutes , but never know the remote acess voice mail will using up minutes and I never meet this when I used 711
