Yesterday I succesfully transfered my number from Bell, (so glad to be done with them and to be here!) and I called them to make sure my account with them is now closed. Their customer service is horrible and I couldnt get a straight answer from them.... so my question is if I transfered my number here by giving PM my account number for bell and everything, does that automatically mean my account with bell is now closed?
They kept telling me that I had to wait 48 hours before my number is transfered... when I was already calling them with my PM sim card on the number they were saying was in suspension....

I also transferred from Bell MT just 1 month ago. My cell phone number transferred to Public Mobile at the sales counter. After all, no problem at all!

@Peeshlee just a fyi, Telus changes your number for outgoing calls and sms right away. It's the incoming calls and port complete sms that confirm a sucsedful port.

I havent checked if my old sim card is still working but within minutes of signing up with public mobile, activating the PM sim, and restarting my phone i could text and call.
Ok thanks for your tips!

When a port completed successfully then your original account is closed.
Typically you get a sms from pm saying successful port and your old sim card stops working, thus closing your old account(if only one line).
Signs of a failed or in progress port.
1) old sim card still works
2) can not receive calls or sms

Yes. If everything is working most likely the Bell account is now closed. Porting out from your old provider automatically closes the old account
