Helping someone who wants to switch from Koodo postpaid to Public to take advantage of current deals on plans that include Mexico. Problem is that he's in Mexico now. His phone supports e-SIM but I guess he won't be able to respond to Koodo's porting request confirmation sms unless he activates roaming at $14 for the day. Any workaround since they're both Telus-owned?

Why can't they respond to the port request from Mexico? It's possible that could trigger the daily roaming charge for Koodo, but that might be worth it depending on the circumstances.

@Sasquatch75 i don't agree the no eSIM. You can actually activate the Canada -US -Mex plan using eSIM and it will fully activate without problem
your friend can choose new phone number first and port later. Or he can even request poet. Just call Koodo and ask them to accept the port request. Koodo and PM both owner by Telus and hence this can easily be done

He was hoping to use the plan while in Mexico.

I would say purchase the plan, don't get the eSIM just yet. Purchase the SIM card directly from PM as it will take a few weeks to get in the mail. Once they get it, finish sign up and get that plan. That should give them enough time to port over.
