Hello and thank you for your support!
I am an existing Public customer, and have purchased a refurbished iPhone 12 mini to replace my iPhone 7. Please walk me through what needs to happen in order to switch service over to my newer phone. The website instructions are quite clear for how to start a new account and port a number from another provider, etc, but just changing phones doesn't really get a mention. Do I simply remove my Public SIM card from my 7 and put it in my 12, or is there more to it? Many thanks ...

Thanks to all who replied with support! The crossover happened seamlessly with phones in close proximity, and SIM swap easy.

Adding to @hTideGnow comment about backup to iCloud.
You should also update to iOS 16 that came out yesterday.
One of Apple’s best update. Love the multi wallpapers and alway on display (finally Android had this for a long time).

That's a nice feature for sure. Similar to Samsung's Smart Switch. Makes transferring everything to a newer device so much easier!

You should copy your old phone to new phone. You can do that by putting both phones side by side and begin the set up process with the new phone. The new phone will see the old one and ask you of it is ok to copy. You might still have to set up Siri, finger prints, and face recognition. The iPhone 12 will not have the finger print set up...just face. Make sure both phones are fully charged.
Then take sim out of old phone into new...reboot new...and you should be up and running.

@JGoodall hi yes you just need to take old sim and probably break it down to nano size and install in your new iphone

HI @JGoodall , you don't have to do much
First, on your old iPhone, make sure you have backup everything to iCloud.
then just move the sim card from old iPhone to the new one and follow the instruction to login with Apple ID and restore back your data
