I don't think that's necessarily a reason for not having a cheaper promo... Because a LOT of people signed up for the $40 promo in the fall that were already existing customers on more expensive plans.

Personally I believe any future promos will be more expensive than the past ones or offer something slightly different. IE Canada wide calling. Promos are there to attract new customers so the prices have to be better than the competitors. Offering a fall promo priced plan again, will cost PM money as the 55$ promo people will switch to the lower priced plan.

I tend to agree with almost everyone here. Just because there few 5hings going one with one provider doesn't mean PM had to do an other promo. While they just finished a days ago so I wouldn't expect anything for at least an other 2 months for an other promo, hopefully better then the last one

Using activity in these forums as any kind of judge of the popularity of a promo is a pretty bad metric.  The only people coming to these forums are people with problems, or us few hardcore folks.  The VAST majority of the complaining about the last promo was from people saying it's not as good as the $40 promo.  Which is a ridiculous comparison to make, as the $40 promo was INSANELY good and unlikely to come back any time before Black Friday, at the VERY earliest.

That aside - back to the OP - from the number of activation failures I'm still seeing in the forums on a daily basis, no - we do not need a crazy good promo right now, because PM's systems are STILL not up to snuff.  There's still no proper ticketing system in place, either.

dont forget every month adds to your loyalty time.  so the sooner you jump the sooner you will save.  i just ported my sister 2 days before the 55$ plan expired.  she regrets not doing the fall promo but when she copared  prices she was happy to switch(she is paying $3more but getting 3 gb more data).  if a better promo comes she will switch to that if she doesn;t need the 4gb/month she will switch to the 40$ 2gb.

In the case of the $55 promo, it was a savings of about $7 / month.  This made the cost per extra GB $7.50, which is actually cheaper than the difference between the 3 GB and 6 GB plans ($9).

Folks who didn't activate because it wasn't the fall promo lost out huge.

"Freedom" gives you freedom from your cell phone so fast that you can't even use it in the city standing outside on the street.

I can name 20+ locations in the GTA core areas as well as surronding areas where you can't get "Freedom" (no signal and/or no data) even standing outside on the street!

Bottom line is the Telus network vs Freedom, is far superior, so paying less for inferior coverage at freedom seems logical.  You get what you pay for.

@ShawnC13 agreed, people were only complaning because they wanted the fall promo price, not the $55 price. It was a snooze you lose with the $40 price, i was a bit hesitant a first, but i signed up in time. I learned the hard way a few time to never let a good deal slip away

All i see is people comapring public to freedom prices on facebook, which is not the smartest because they are two completly different companies in terms of service/receiption and customer service. What i truly like about PM, is that the price is for everyone/anyone in Canada, no matter the location. None of this regeional price gimmick.

You can definitively not compare Freedom and Chatr coverage with Public Mobile's...

And the $25 promo is not bad at all 🙂

However would be great to see a Canada-wide promo one day!

A decent promo has just ended and comparing Freedom's promo is pointless when it comes to coverage and then even harder to compare when it is a promo for friends and family with CSR's getting 5 codes.  IF PM runs a promo again like the fall promo I think it will only happen once a year if at all.  They don't need to run promo's to make everyone happy, all they need to do is offer plans that slightly beating copetition and then let the consumer make the choice.  This last promo was still better then a lot of plans out there yet we mostly hear complaints on how bad of a plan it was.  PM shouldn't/won't beg for your business if a plan works for you great get onboard if not stay or go to a plan that does work for you.  Simple as that.

I haven't checked recently, from what I remember, the regular 40$/month 2gb/month plan was the best deal out there, unless u lived in Quebec or went the freedom route. Not to mention rewards ...

@stonechucker, I respectfully disagree.  A good promo is much needed.  Judging by the activity in the public forum, it is very evident the recent promos are weak sauce.  As for taking the Freedom promo as a lead, nothing will come of that.  The promo is not universally available, only a select few who are lucky enough to get these family and friends codes get the deal.  Back in the day when I was with Wind, this cropped up almost annually.  Good luck securing a code.  You are better off seaching for a needle in a haystack.

I read that it was seen as a "friends/family sale". Each rep only had a certain amount of codes from what I've read. 

"FYI, I believe what the CSR is offering OP is the recent friends & family promo. It's not advertised cuz it's internal. Each Freedom Mobile employee received 5 promo codes they can use for friends or family, which give 35% discount(lifetime) applied to your monthly plan." 

So who knows if any reps have some codes left, or if they do, are they nice enough to give you it

Still wouldnt move to them, I couldnt even get receiption at my university in toronto

A great promo just ended.  We don't need anything right now.  Yes, you may want a great promo, but PM Isn't offering one at this time, other than the $25 talk & text.

Good luck to those with that Freedom plan when they go camping, or up to a friends cottage. It's good for those that frequent the TTC, but the rest of us in Ontario have no use for it. 

PM will not even blink an eye at it IMHO.
