Hello!
I subbed to the $29 30GB @ 4G plan, and just received my SIM chip... hurrah!
Turns out, the Public Mobile "100Mbps"... cough... is more like 10Mbps (3 up) at very best. More realistically, 6dn/1up. Even though the exact same phone + location, with a TELUS SIM chip gets up to 50dn/10up. (With a smart hub, even better). Phone regularly 30dn/4up. Clearly connected on 4G+LTE, not 5G...
So the entire reason I got this plan was that it was owned by TELUS, and 100Mbps was going to be plenty for my needs. But a spotty 6+1 is not going to cut it. I was flogging promo plans far and wide over the last few weeks too... so right now frankly, I'm embarrassed. Can we please make this right?
It's also worth noting:
- Near a summer tourist area. Tower traffic is at least 50-100x higher in the summer. Not a capable thing.
- Yes it's fringe, but I'm not asking for the moon. Just something comparable to my cable modem from ~2002.
- Again, same towers, SGS21ultra phone, location... TELUS sim workable. Public Mobile sim... not so.
- I realize there's some level of QoS between parent TELUS, older brother Koodo, and mainstream acquisition Public Mobile... but eesh!
- In the off chance that there's some higher backend things with your 5G plan, QoS, additional non-5G frequencies (ummm?), etc etc... I tried upgrading to the $34 5G well prior to midnight my time (Mountain time) ... and to be extra sure, it does seem like I can still sub freshly new eversafe profile to the $34 promo... I can see some other promos in My (active $29) Account, but not the $34 one. In any event... one way or another, such an upgrade should be unnecessary with this whole debacle.
- And oh my, your portal times out way to fast...
So am I a chump for thinking I should get remotely usable/similar speeds to TELUS 4G+LTE?
Thanks much in advance for your assistance! 😃
Logged out of portal
First gave an error after logging in... which it also gave many hours ago when I first tried...
Creating a dummy eversecure, I was able to get well along the process....
But as you can probably tell... I already have too many accounts

@eco try Reset All Networks first and test in different area to confirm the speed
and test the speed in both 5G and 4G (change the network mode settings, and yes, your 4G plan allows you to use both 4G and 5G network, so try both)
And what brand and model your phone??
if you have another phone, test your PM sim there as well
For the $34 plan, it is a plan for new activation only. You might want to check with PM support
