data usage adnormal

I just checked my data usage. The number seemed high on Aug 1, 2023 00:59 38MB , July 29, 2023 01:56 12MB and 00:56 9MB.  I can assure that I'm asleep at these times and my phone is connected to wifi.  Please advise.

@dust2dust  I agree it's minimal but it is a curious ghostly phenomenon I see reported elsewhere as well. 👻

It could be a couple of factors, PM updates your data usage at noon and around midnight but this is minimal. There are also background app refresh.

You can put the phone on Airplane mode but this will prevent important calls from coming in.

If you are on a $25+ plan, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

@AON PM usage history for data does not update constantly.  It only update twice a day to show the total usaly for the last 12 hours.  You will have to wait till after midnight for the usage for tonight to show.

I login my account on Aug 2, 2023 4:45PM showed I used 11.11MB but the usage history showed nothing for data usage and 11:13 incoming call duration 01:29min only.  The usage history is correct but why the overview show 11.11MB data used?

I'm not gonna lie, it was me. I needed to check the Blue Jays score and used your phone while you were sleeping. 🙂

All kidding aside, this could be a lot of reasons. It could have been data usage sometime during the previous 12 hours that didn't register yet. Updating an app is usually the culprit. Make sure while you're home you always leave it on WiFi. Also,  you may check your data usage on your phone and see what's been using data. There are several apps out their for iPhone and Android that can confirm what's being used. Hope this clarifies.

Notice the roughly 12 hour gap. (wait, is that a 24 hour clock?) That's about the reporting pace. It's the accumulation of usage between each time stamp. And when talking MB's, it's minimal. If you have the $15 plan then might think about. If you have lots of data then it's inconsequential.
