Started my plan yesterday. Have only been at home using my home internet but when I looked at usage in my data settings it is changing. When I look at my subscription in public mobile app. It says 0 usage for data. Could the data usage shown in my settings be from previous carrier still?
Also wondering why I had to download a text message to read it today and had to turn data on to download it. Why?

I don't think app will show Kps, anything less than 1mb will show as zero.

hi @Brammer you could be sending MMS and that is why you need to turn on data
the couple hundreds KB is nothing. could be just buffer data needed when data was enabled. I would not worry too much at the moment

Android ph not iPhone.
Data is turned off. Just confused why I had to turn it on this am in order to receive a text message. Then I turned it off again. In the meantime data moved from 35kb to 77kb in my settings only but not in PM app

It's an android ph. No app that counts data. I just open my ph settings and I can see it there. It's about 77kb. I only have 1gb so that's why I'm asking about it. Pm App says 0 usage which makes more sense but I'll check it again later to see if it changes.

Do you have a data counter app on your phone that monitors data usage? You will need to disable it. Your PM account on your usage is update twice a day. Around noon and midnight.
BTW, PM is on a 30 day cycle not monthly cycle so the data counter may not be correct.
You need data enable if it is an MMS message.

@Brammer So you happen to have iPhone ? If so be sure to turn off wifi assist as it can use cellular data even when on wifi . The usage would have nothing to do with old carrier but you might have some apps in the background updating . Safest way to ensure your only using wifi when at home is to turn cellular data off when at home and wifi assist

hi @Brammer how much data or used? if it is around 100Mb, that is the startup buffer data which is normal
and remember, check the usage history page. And that does not update constantly but inluupdate twice a day as a total usage around midnight
