change plan but will lose discount?

Hi there,

I currently have a plan $35 with 1.5GB with $10 discount off (new year promotion), and I want to change the plan to $40 with 4.5GB.

I looked answers on community and I also checked on SIMon, the answer is I won't lose the monthly discount, however when I am changing the plan, it shows no discount with the new plan?? 

Can I keep the $10 discount with $40 (the higher plan)?

I think it also gave a one time 800 minutes of long distance in addition to the monthly (8 months) 1 GB of data.   Yes, only for $35 or higher plans.  No longer active since a week or two ago.

@mimmo   When I tried it a couple weeks ago it said I didn't qualify. I believe it was for new customers and it gave you and extra 1gb of plan data if you stayed on that plan. I remember speculating that it was pms way of testing how many customers would pay $35 for 2.5gb of data and not downgrade their plan (and lose the bonus) but I think you could upgrade with no penalty.

@darlicious   what does CNY2020 get you? what are /were the requirements?

@elzie  The last few promotions that have stated : switching your rate plan will cause you to be ineligible for the promotion. It has been clarified by @Alan_K  in previous promotions since the black Friday promotion that they have been coded to automatically drop the the promotional discount. This is not a promotion that a moderator can override.

             You must decide if you would prefer to pay $25 for 1.5gb or $40 for 5gb. If you can budget your plan data til your promotion is over and save $15 per month than stay with the plan you have. If you need the additional 3.5gb it's still a bargain at only $15 more. BTW....did you add the CNY2020 promo code to your account? I don't know if you qualify or if it's still valid but it's worth a try if you haven't.

@elzie as per the rules, of the lunar promotion you will lose the discount if you switch your plan. However, in previous cases, there have been instances, depending upon the moderator that you get. When if you go to a higher plan, you get to keep the discount. So, contact a moderator and explain your situation . Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen . This connects to the autobot Simon . Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one. (CLICK on account specific question and human and submit a ticket)

@elzie I believe that changing plan will delete your discount. It applies only to the plan you register during promotion.
