Wifi Calling?

Doing my research before joining.

I am using Rogers now, thinking to join here

I searched Help found VoLTE is here, but don't see words about Wifi Calling, Public Mobile has that too?

I agree the overall price is cheaper per day, but some don't like the 15 days length.    My brother went US last week for a short 2 days trip, decided to not pay the full 15 days for it

I doubt we'll get wifi calling anytime soon, if ever. Public Mobile is a tier 3 provider who is part of Telus. It's no frills and low prices. If features such as WiFi calling are important to you you'll want to consider their tier 1 (Telus) or Tier 2 (Koodo) providers. Telus isn't going to give all the extra goodies to their budget brand, otherwise there'd be little incentive to upgrade to a Tier 1 or 2 provider at a higher rate.

As for roaming, we're limited to the US only. Beyond that there is no service. Having said that, Public Mobiles roaming prices in the US are significantly cheaper than Tier 1 and 2 providers.

Do you know that we've been eagerly waiting for years and have just recently started offering volte services, and now you come along asking for the more advanced wificalling? I'm just kidding.lol

@olofRense

VoLTE will work if your phone has VoLTE option. Unfortunately my Samsung S8 doesn’t have this feature and wifi calling not available on PM.

Public Mobile offers much better value US Roaming add ons than the average $15/dayrate offered by other providers. 15 day Unlimited US talk+text=$15 and Unlimited US talk+text+3gb of data=$30 and some stand alone data add ons. Points redemption for add ons are discounted between 25% and 50%.

Sorry @olofRense PM only has roaming for US , but they are sold as add-on for a block of 15  days.  No daily rate like that

i could see that happening in rare occurrence, but you'll likely get a "not available" message from the network if you force it on, which isn't recommended.

Thanks all.

And what is the price for Roam Like Home?

@olofRense

Public Mobile does not have wifi calling. However if you had a telus phone that had wifi calling enabled on it by telus it may support wifi calling with pm but it's YMMV.

Doubtful, volte was only just rolled out as a necessity, they don't offer premium features here or on any of the 3rd flanker brands, sadly it's fairly standard practice.

Thanks for the quick replies, but it will have it eventually?  Sometime this year? or later?

@olofRense , there has been no talk about bringing WiFi calling feature to this service so far.  That is not to say it will never get it.  It is just that the timing of such an upgrade is uncertain and should not be counted on.

HI @olofRense

Likely not.  PM is a tier 3 provider and only provider bare minimum.  I don't think we will have Wifi calling any time

No one here knows. I haven't seen any rumour of it either.
