 Why does this keep happening? It seems to only happen when using WiFi.

Your phone is going into Do Not Disturb. And I guess with all the other icons up there, when wifi is on it needs to create space so it suppresses the network signal bar.

@StuGattz

Did you set a time for Do Not Disturb on your Android phone?

Just disable it if that is the case.

Hi @StuGattz

If it happens briefly and go back to regular, it is possibly a device problem

Try to reseat the sim card.  Take it out and wipe it clean and insert it back firmly.

If it happens still, try the sim on another phone.  If it works well on another phone but not yours, then it is a device problem.

It could also be a sim card issue, but sim card rarely breaks, so I doubt it. But if you tried everything, you can also buy a new Public Mobile sim card from Telus or Koodo store for $10 or from Amazon for $5.  Then login My Account and update the sim card number on the Profile page

That symbol only appears for a few seconds. Then the network bars reappear. I reset the network, but that is not my questions. I want to know why this happens randomly.

After checking out Google, you've turned on Silent Mode on your phone.
