Why is there aWhy is there a voice prompt before the other party's phone rings every time I call a local number that may require long-distance charges? before the other party's phone rings every time I call a local number that may require long-distance charges?

It's likely not a local number, but most plans include Canada wide calling so it's a moot point. As others have said, out a 1 in front of the number and it should stop doing that.

HI @haha9527
were you calling within putting a 1 in front of the 10 digits? add the 1 in front of the 10 digits and the voice prompt will be gone
you have a Canada wide calling plan , so no worry about extra charges

@haha9527 That happens sometimes nothing to worry about , but maybe try adding a 1 infront of the contact see if it makes a difference
