I changed my name recently and updated my voicemail greeting without any issues, but I noticed that when I call other people and leave a voicemail, they still hear a recording of my old name followed by the voicemail message (i.e., "New message from: oldname", followed by the message). I can't find an option anywhere in my own voicemail settings to update a recorded name when I leave a voicemail in someone else's mailbox, only to record greetings for when people reach mine.
Both myself and the recipient in this scenario are iPhone users and are both on Public Mobile. We looked at their device and I Googled for a bit to see if iOS was storing this old recording but no luck finding any information. Is there somewhere else where this recording might be saved?
Thank you in advance for any guidance or suggestions!

@dust2dust wrote:@fujiyama- Thanks for saying something. I doubted this as well. Then I tested it all.
My number is set to not be displayed. I called and left a message and I got from unknown number.
I turned that option on and left a message and got from...silence.
I went in to the voicemail settings and listened to my recorded name as currently set and...silence. I
recorded a name. Called and left a message and there was the name I just recorded.
This was all tested from and to Public accounts. I'm not saying what other providers voicemails do.
That's only within Public. Messages left by callers using other carriers only give the number.

I think your friend needs to update your name in their contact list.
I'm not sure how your own voicemail settings can affect the receiver's vm system/settings? Not a big vm user so someone correct me if I'm wrong lol.

Your 'name' and greetings are on two different places at PM voice mail. I had to struggle a little bit until I found how to change a name so some digging is required.

You need to go into your voice mail and re-record your name, not the greeting part just where you have to record only your name, that should be why that is happening.

@kelpyturtles when you are on voicemail, press 4, 4,3 to record name

@kelpyturtles - does the below take you where you need to go?
How To Set Up Your Voicemail Greeting:
Your voicemail is automatically ready to accept messages.
Until you set up your voicemail greeting, the default system greeting will be played.
To set up your voicemail greeting:
1. Hold down the “1” key on your phone keypad. This will dial your voicemail access number.
2. Follow the prompts to set up your password, and record your name and personal greeting."
