@JLima

Are you on the $$ rewards program? Or points? Since you are only in the US for 2 days why not just purchase the US Roaming 250mb data add on? Or if you are on points redeem 5 points for it rather spend $10. Download textnow as advised and before you leave Canada call forward  your pm phone number (busy/unreachable setting) to the textnow phone #. Set your network mode to 4G LTE only if possible to avoid connecting to the 2G network so as to not affect your call forwarding.

You will be able to recieve incoming pm text messages and incoming pm calls will ring thru to your textnow app. You can reply or call out using textnow on wifi and your mobile data. You can be confident that you will connect to T-Mobile's 4G LTE network for your data and SMS texts and subsequently with textnow your voice calling and outgoing texts. This will lower your cost to $10 or with a points redemption the equivalent of $5 (5pts).

You may find this post and the original post of this thread helpful for your use of the US Roaming add-ons....

@JLima

You can use WhatsApp or TextNow on WiFi for free texting and calling.

I have a TextNow SIM for free texting and calling anywhere in the USA.😉

@JLima

consider downloading free voip app like TextNow. It's free and, using free wifi at resorts, motel, McD's et al, you can call most any Cdn or US number...for gratis. As part of the sign up process, you'll select a free Cdn number so's others at home can call / text you.

Using your regular PM account...be aware that even without a US Roaming add-on, you'll still be able to receive texts while in US, from anyone....you just won't be able to respond.

cause PM is catching up from the 2010 decade ... 🤣🤣🤣

@JLima  Also note the roaming add on start immediately after purchased so best to purchase just before you go away …. Also I to never saw a email about it either there was a post here in the forum on the changes only reason I’m aware of the change @JLima

Thanks for advising! I’ll be in the US only for 2 days and I’ll have wifi so only need the talk service. Now I have to pay double the price which is frustrating

@JLima   there was no email or formal announcement about the change

Not sure if you are aware, US has shutdown the 3G network.  Our voice now needs to use T-Mobile's 2G network.  it is not very reliable.

I sugget you to save the money, download VoIP app TextNow and use it to make calls and text.  TextNow will give you a new 10 digits number and you use it just like a real phone, except you use the app to make calls and text.  It will work as long as you have Mobile data or Wifi

@JLima   you are looking for the roaming US talk?

they are re-lineup the roaming add-on and removed that Talk only to make it simpler.  Also, with the current issue for Roaming Talk, relying on the unreliable 2G network, I guess PM does not want to much trouble and hence decided to just combine Talk and Text together
