USA voice/text

Planning  to go to USA next month .

In the past, I have purchased the USA talk/text 10/15 day package and it has worked great!

I now noticed that in my "add-on usage', I have an unused "$0 holiday giveaway 400 mi long distance (incl ca and us)"

My question is :: do I still need to purchase the 15 day talk/text package to use my phone in the USA?

or is it covered in the 400 minute giveaway?

I also have a friend who says all I need is to use is Whatsapp ---instead of buying the 15 day package?

I am currently on the $13/month plan and use an iphone 15

Any comments/ideas/suggestions are welcome

Unless you need mobile data I would suggest a free app such as WhatsApp or similar. You can call, text and message on wifi without any cost. My relatives travel extensively and they do this so they can always connect with family at no cost.

As stated, we are still on the $13 plan.

I think our best bet is to buy the 15 day add-on.

That's probably all we'll need

and ........I can keep my cheap plan when we return!

How about thinking outside the box of getting a US addon. With the newest Black Friday deals, why not consider getting one of those instead. That way you never need addons again. Depending on what account you have I guess. Just figure out the difference between the account you have now and what account peeks your interest that US included, x it by 12 and then figure out how many addons you'd buy a year.

That's just a long distance add-on to call the US from Canada. You need a roaming add-on or a roaming plan. What plan are you currently on? There are Canada/US plans (that don't require extra roaming) for as little as $29, depending on what plan you currently have.

you can use WhatsApp to keep in touch with others who have that app. You'll be needing either wifi or separately purchased data to use WhatsApp.  Depending on how long you plan on being in US...probably just as simple to get the 15 Day US roaming add-on that you are familiar with already. There's currently some Canada/US/Mx plans available, but you won't be able to get your $13 plan back again when you return home. For the occasional use...stick with the add-on in my opinion.

hi @2Hands you still need roaming add-on, the holiday give a way is a Long distance call from Canada, not roaming 

and yes, WhatsApp is good, you can use it wherever you have Wifi

@2Hands  Yes you still need US roaming add on , or CAN/US plan to use in the U.S. . those long distance mins you have are only for making calls from Canada to abroad
