I am on vacation in the US and have added the US plan with data. Calls and texts work fine, connected to t mobile but the data won’t work. It connects and shows an E but I can’t actually do anything with it, not even email or whatsapp messages and google maps says I don’t have an internet connection.
I am in Washington DC in various locations and have 4 bars.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me, I have switched my phone off and back on several times. Thanks in advance.

you were likely having voice issue and selected 3G in Canada.. In US, there is no 3G and hence the network moves down to 2G.

Oh ok, it managed to drop down to 2G on its own from that setting.

Who knows 😂 it’s an older Iphone 5 and 3g was the option checked.

Good news. It begs the question though, why was your phone on 2G to begin with?

I think I have a solution thanks to softech, changed it manually to LTE and that seems to be working, thanks everyone.

@Kootenaigirl1 your phone is not connected to LTE or 4G, you are connected at 2G
Try to change your Preferred network type or network mode to LTE or a choice with LTE or 4G there
Also, make sure Data Roaming is enabled on your device

Might want to try a network reset of phone (this will erase your saved Wifi settings)
