US ROAMING ISSUES

I am disappointed again, with a lack of service over the border. Twice I went to Michigan, the second time to try again and see if I fixed the issue. I have absolutely no talk/text in Michigan..  I brought felt got T-Mobile as I crossed the river, but never again.. . No talk /no data, only SOS services.. what a shame..  I’ve read many threads here, and it seems no solution is available?..

my phone had issues with eSIM on setup and may have created more issues.. I have got weird primary and secondary connections, both are of no use..  I don’t even know why I have two .. both linked to the same number, both have different options in setup.. neither offer connection

@mavic2411 I think you should be good then. Just make sure data roaming is enabled. You can try leaving your network connection set to automatic, but if you have issues you can manually connect to T-Mobile. AT&T has service at times, but I have had issues in the US with AT&T, in particular with 5G.

Yes I am in Canada now, came back home last night I live on the border.. and services do work here..  I have appropriate US plan so on theory it should work..  costs $ each time to cross the border when I want to try again.. lol  and border security might find it suspicious lol

@mavic2411 I'm not sure, but it should help narrow down the problem, if nothing else. It also simplifies the settings.

Are you in Canada now? And do your services work at home now? If so, there are less reasons why it wouldn't also work in the US with the appropriate roaming add-on or Can/US plan.

Physical sim had not been removed and that solved the dual sim issue I had.. should they in theory correct my US ROAMING issue?  I hope it does, thank you for that tip btw..

I’ll have to check.. good question not sure I removed original from prior carrier..

HI @mavic2411

you can disable the sim associated with the primary, then change the secondary to primary and try

@mavic2411 Is one of them a physical sim by chance?

I apologize .. it is 2 sims.. primary though no way to alter it or delete it.. and secondary is main one in use.. so can’t delete it or I’ll lost everything

I agree, there is only one sim though.. that’s got 2 lines, primary and secondary..  I don’t think it should be that way.. iPhone 12 as well..

@mavic2411 I would think you could fix up some of this confusion by deleting or removing the temp sim, but I be careful with that of course. Whatever sim you use in Canada is the same sim you should use in the US. No need to change it when you cross the border.

After I did the ESim initiation, I all of a sudden got a Secondary line.. no idea why.. also, my phone number is incorrect here on the profile.. my esim was not successful upon first attempt, issues occurred and I needed @CS_Agent  to repair it as well.. so I was given a random number at first, then my number was ported to my phone later.. all these issues of setup I believe created issues I’m seeing now/. 😞

You should not need to touch your sim card settings if your phone is working in Canada. What is the second sim on your phone for?

Is your phone a North American variant or international?

If you're connected to your primary PM sim which has roaming services enabled, it should work. The VoLTE suggestion is generally a good starting off point, but that would have no impact on SMS.

@mavic2411 hymm well I’m out of suggestions then might have to get support to step in and investigate for you

Unable to do that even,  eSIM  jacked my phone I believe.. I can’t even  “allow data switching”..

@mavic2411  If your phone is not supported by voLTE you will have to try to put  the network to 2G for voice and manually  select T mobile

@mavic2411  You can also try to connect to AT&T try that if  t mobile not a option and make sure you have data roaming on in phone settings
