My son just called me saying his Data in the USA is not working. He has the CA-US 20GB plan and has an iPhone. I need assistance how he can get his data. I am leaving to the USA to meet him on the exact same plan in a few days and do not want the headaches. Was with Virgin before and the US data plan never worked, 1 major reason we switched companies.
Please help

I agree with the above. I would leave it on automatic. If you get out of coverage for T-Mobile then it could connect to AT&T and vice versa. I would also leave it on 4G LTE but that's just being cautious. And hopefully your phone has been enabled for volte by now. Otherwise you'll need to be able to switch down to 2G GSM for T-Mobile for talk. Text will also work on that. AT&T will not. This is just about talk. Text and data should be fine on both on 4G LTE.

Most of the time you should be able to leave your phone in Automatic network selection. Only if it doesn't connect to T-Mobile would you need to manually connect. The bigger issue I find people forget is to enable data roaming within the network settings on your phone. Just leave it on all the time, as there's no chance of overages on PM anyway, because it's prepaid. Either the service works, or it doesn't.

Wonderful! Very happy to hear that this got it working for him.
Yes, unless you get automatically connected to T-Mobile you will most likely encounter this issue so I’d suggest manually connecting to T-Mobile whenever you go across the border. Also with automatic turned off now, remember to manually select Public Mobile when you return to Canada.

Make sure that data roaming is on. Go into your cellular settings, hit the SIM card you are using, then go to network selection. In Network Selection turn off automatic and manually select T-Mobile, then reboot
