All correct....as long as you are authorized to port out the number. If not (like in a nasty divorce) then it would be considered a fraudulent port.

@Annchen just to be clear name display and account ownership are two different things. For number porting, you need to supply the account holder name shown in the billing statements. Public Mobile does not support name display. You will lose that function when your switch over.

@Annchen Yes, during activation just supply the Fido account number, the name on the Fido account and the Fido phone number. Also make sure you enter an alternate number that you can be reached just in case PM needs to contact you
That's it!!

Yes you can port out your number even though it is in your husband's name. When you do the port you make sure that you put the correct name that is on the FIDO account which is his. Now after the transfer is done anyone you call will only see your name IF your name and number are saved in their contacts. If it is someone that doesn't have your info saved only your phone number will show up on their screen.

@Annchen im not sure that will work. when you port a number over it asks for the name of the current account holder and the number for the account and the pin# from the other provider.
Although that being said, when I moved my wife's phone over her old number with Bell was under my name....
So full circle yes you can LOL
You just have to make sure when you port the number the portion for account holder name from the other company is his name. You can go to the help page to get instructions.
cheers
