Public Mobile has a fantastic price for SIM cards. 1 only for $5. No longer have to buy 2 for $10. Well done PM!!!!

And CCS is back to there floating pricing ..... is it based on the price of oil?

@Nezgar  nice move

And since that is the official one, they really should match the price they are selling on their site, no reason why the prices are different

Now, PM should post the link themselves  on the Shop PM sim card part of the site like what they have one before, briefly.

I see Public Mobile's official SIM card on amazon.ca is also now $4.99:

So why is giving us the option for pickup?

I got my free SIM from Calgary but I decided not to pickup.

That's not ordering thorugh the Public Mobile website. This is only to tell customers that SIM cards can be purchased from these sotres. I can't emphasize this enough and as @softech  has correctly stated and at the risk of being repetitive, the online Public Mobile store does not offer pick up at any Telus or Koodo retail locations (it never has).

@softech

Yes it gives me the Telus/Koodo locations near me.

@BKNS27   click on it and test it out

The pick up option get you to this link

https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/store-locator

this is an option to help you to find a Telus or Koodo store with PM card.  To "pickup", you don't buy online first, you go to the store and buy it there.

@Olive_Oyl

Up until the offer of a free Sim card I was personally satisfied with the shipping times of Sim cards from public mobile. But of 3 free Sim cards ordered for myself, my neighbour and a referral with 3 separate addresses none have arrived. The offer from customer support of a $10 credit after purchasing at the retail level after a new activation is wholly unsatisfactory as who is to say if any the Sim cards were meant for an activation? Mine was destined for a Sim swap. How does it help me if I purchased a Sim card for a referral that they get the $10 credit?

However the $5 Sim card price is an improvement over $10/ea or 2 for $10.

@softech Well thankyou, colour me corrected!

It still seems Public Mobile has de-emphasized purchasing from amazon since I didn't see a link to it anymore from the "Shop / Get a SIM Card" page off the main Public Mobile website...

@Nezgar they do.. this one:

Sold By Public Mobile and fulfilled by Amazon

@softech , yes you’re correct! I actually have that saved to my list on Amazon!

You can place an order from PM and arrange it to be picked up at your local Telus/Koodo store.

Unfortunately, that is entirely incorrect. There is no pickup option available for orders places through the Public Mobile website.

You can place an order from PM and arrange it to be picked up at your local Telus/Koodo store. Same with CCS if you are in the Mississauga/Oakville area.

I don't think there's such thing as one sold directly from PM anymore. The PM website no longer has amazon link, and any SIM card sold on amazon is sold by a 3rd party seller. Prominent amazon sellers are "METRO CELLULAR" and Canadian Cell Supplies.

But I think going with Amazon with Prime shipping is the way to go.  PM simply can't keep up with a  consistent and  reliable  delivery  time.

I like saving my nickels and dimes......I use Amazon only if there is a cost savings.

And I am in the position that allows a 10 day delivery time 😀

Most have been delivered under 10 business days.

Efficiency  planning can also save money. 😂

I orfeted 3 so far,  two camre within reasonable time, like 4 to  5 days, one lost.  I. pretty sure PM fulfillment should take most blame with the delay,

Yes

but Canada Post's reputation not good either, they probably helped to delay at least 5% of the orders

My past  couple of years using Canada Post has been bang on with their posted level of service. I would  say they are fantastic. A lot of it is due to hitting the mail box immediately and before pick up time.

I keep saying, activating new carrier is an Impulsive buying , if you can grab on the right moment, you get the account.

Impulsive might be the word or is it the excitement of making the change to obviously a good deal that gets smothered out with the lack of immediate availability of a SIM or the transportation cost and time to get it?  I would be willing to ship cards for PM in my region.

  But. with PM sim order, even 5 days is too long . You would have seen so many better deals in these 5 days.  You walk around malls and those mobile specialists can always sell you something that benefits their commission and able to close the deal on the spot.  I am pretty sure many "would be" activations were gone because of this

Yes if the impulse is there for a change or first time user. But when I look back...I don’t remember how I got onto Public Mobile....but after I did, I contacted a local guy on Craigslist giving his referral code....he answered all my questions.....I had time on my no longer wanted Telus prepaid plan......and I took a 5 minute drive to London Drugs for a SIM....went home and signed up using the strangers referral code.....I got a PM number and ported my number from Telus a couple of weeks later. I got $10 off and will never use a strangers referral code again as I now have my own.....I guess I am patient or more of a planner??🤔

Wouldn’t that make sense though? $10. Isn’t  the fee to sell on Amazon and the commission per each same a bit over the top vs eBay? No doubt there might be a better deal for a corporate seller....but I can’t see PM netting out for less than what they do for their own online sales?

A $5 sale on the PM site is:

$5

-$1 postage

-25 cents for envelope

-$1 to $2 handling fee

- cost to take to post box or office, or maybe not as high volume mail is often picked up at the sellers location.

So net is between $2.75 to $3.75 ... not mentioning the net landed cost of each SIM.

It is a good deal. I would think the selling cost per card or profit per  card is not a big part go the picture.....higher value plans and retention is the money maker. PM does a good job and I have appreciated all the freebies over the 3 years that I have been here.
