Changing your plan will do nothing to help this, because even on a 4G plan your phone will likely still default to the 5G network if available. The plan just dictates max speed, not which network you can connect to.

You're better off just forcing your phone to 4G and see if that helps. I generally do that, because I find 5G signal isn't as reliable where I frequent. When there's a strong signal it works great, but for everyday use I prefer the 4G network. I do have a 5G plan though, and I still get 5G speed even on the 4G network (with a 5G plan).

@AtomaZ

It all depends on your distance from the PM (Telus) towers. 5G is theoretically faster (<250mbps) than 4G LTE(<100mbps).  However, the range of 5G is considerably less. If you are too far from a tower, your phone will automatically select the stronger 4G LTE signal.

I suggest that you download a tower signal/location app and determine the locations of your usable towers. If you are generally too far away, you may want to downgrade to a cheaper 4G plan and not pay for the 5G. That is a situation I am in.

Please note that with PM., even if you are on a 4G LTE plan, your phone can still pick up and use the 5G signal.  The 5G icon will show up on your phone if the signal is strong enough. However, PM will throttle your speed to less than 100mbps.

I see that PM is offering a $30 20GB 4G Canada/USA plan. This plan makes a lot of sense if you can live with 20GB per month. I see that many people have to switch their phones to LTE mode to work in the states anyways.

It is easy to switch to the 4G/LTE plan. Login on the PM app then on the Subscription tab>Manage Subscription>Change Subscription.
There you will see the list of 4G and 5G plans that you are eligible for but remember to switch on your next renewal date so you won’t be charged for the old plan and new plan.

you can be still on 4G or LTE on a 5G plan.  The 5G plan is just about speed, anyone on any plan can access 3G or 4G or 5G network.

So, if you like the amount of data offered on any 5G plan, you can still subscribe to it , just change your phone's network mode to 4G or LTE.  And even on 4G, you will still get speed like you are on 5G

one thing I like to keep using 4G in stead of 5G is that it is more battery friendly, it uses less power on 4G

@AtomaZ  The 5G is still faster data speed up to 250mbs 4G plan is up to 100mbs and if you have 5G  non CAN/US plan you get unlimited data capped  at 512kbps where’s as 4G will just stop working . I do wish PM offered true 5G+ like Telus has which is up to 2GBps . All this to say I would stick with your 5G plan unless the 4G plan is cheaper and you don’t need more data then it provides because you will just end up with slower data speed unfortunately
