Switching from android to iphone

I'm thinking about switching from an Android to a new Iphone 11 pro. But I don't know if I will be able to keep my same PM phone plan, and if I can keep it, I want to know how to keep my phone plan and if the price of the phone plan would change at all.

Thanks! I discovered that in a moment of lapsed intelligence I was mistaking the micro sd for the sim. All good now!

@Victorian1_ There might still be yet another small frame part to remove. The nano sim is really basically just the gold contacts area. If you have more blank space beyond that then carefully punch out the area that contains the gold. Carefully.

I'm trying to swap the card from my old Lenovo/Motorola Play to an iPhone SE (2nd gen) but although they seem to be the same size, the sim doesn't fit in the iPhone slot. Any idea where I go with this now?

@BKNS27   I am happy to see Android is going in the same direction, not 7 years like Apple still, but Samsung and Google are both shifting to 5 years support

The reality is that device batteries tend to fizzle out after about 3 years of use.  I think the extended support is great, but given limited battery lifespan, phone designs that are not repair friendly, parts availability & costs...5+ yrs of updates are more of a marketing spin now.  And with Android device ecosystem consolidating, soon we will just have 3 choices...Apple, Pixel and Samsung.

PS:  Apple wants you buying new devices and not repairing 😉

The easy part is just removing your Sim card from your current phone and putting it in your iPhone. The hard part is learning the different way iPhones operate compared to Android phones. You will likely need to update the carrier profile over wifi or by connecting to iTunes. You will need to register your apple ID and phone #.

Enable SMS/MMS and use some data saving tips like turning off wifi assist, make sure updates, photo sharing and back ups are via wifi only and turn off background data in your apps for example. Mobile data tracking should be reset every 30 days according to your 30 day cycle dates or install a data monitoring app for iPhones like data witness.

I have both Android and iPhone. There are advantages with iPhones. One advantage is that Apple will supply iOS updates for about 7 years while Android is only for 3 years depending on the phone.

Advantage with Android is the countless settings for the phone.

You should just be able to change out your SIM card!

@damo_nobrien   As long as the Iphone is compatible with PM (Telus/Bell) network and unlocked then you just need to remove the SIM from the old phone and insert into the new device and reboot and your current number and plan is not affected by changing devices.

@damo_nobrien   no worry, you can keep it.  Phone plan  has no relationship with the phone you have now.  So, plan price is the same, no change

in fact, it is very easy, pop out your sim card from the Anrdoid and insert it to your new iPhone, BINGO!!

you just need to use the app to migrate the phone contents and app to the new iPhone
