Yes on 5g plan. Yes reset network connections, rebooted. Support ticket submitted waiting for response

HI @Darren8

do you have  a 5G plan or 4G plan?

PM uses same Telus network, so really no reason you get a speed so much lower than when you were in Telus.

Try Reset All Networks and test again

if still slow speed, ask support agent to refresh your account.

@Darren8   What phone do you have?   Do you have it set to connect to 5G or 4G/LTE?

@Darren8 - It can be caused by numerous things such as these:

  • Tower is too far away
  • Many People are using the tower therefore the tower is at stress
  • In a location that penetrates cell signals
  • Band you are connected to is higher power - closer = better speeds but farther away = slow speeds.

It depends on location, for example, Calgary has more towers because it has many customers and needs more bandwith but when you are at... lets just say Fort McMurray, which has lots of less towers.

If you look here: https://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html?lat=55.153766&lng=-112.675781&zoom=5&type=Road...

And see a tower that consists of 2100mhz, 1900mhz, or 2600mhz and just those three mhz types, no other mhz it may mean that it is a limited range small cell or a picocell, with no general range.

Also check what degrees the MHZ is on your closest tower is, if it is pointed outside your direction, your phone may not receive it. If it is OMNI it is Omnidirectional band therefore you should be able to receive it 360 degrees while keeping the same band.

If it is experiencing the issue over two locations far apart from each other, please see if you had just switched to 5G plan it may take a bit for all towers to realize your change in plan speed, if it is still ongoing, please contact CS_Agent:
