Hi,
Today one Lady called and told me that she had received a call from my number mentioning the name Daniel and calling from amazon. He was trying to spam that lady by mentioning that she has won the lottery.
Request to you plz check this issue asap.

That's why I insist changing number to avoid this is not helpful.
I understand if it is a new number, you want to give a chance, yes, but likely won't help

Your not alone -- our landline is on a daily basis receiving these spoofing calls --- ALSO to explain my Hmmmmm in my last post to you...Was not suggesting that you may be a crook but one never knows..... I use an alias email for my account and community email and through this I am also receiving lots of spam and other of annoying emails that are obviously tied directly to my community and account mail. Also every time I log into my community account I get an apple warning message that this page is not secure and is compromised.

I empathize with you, while it may not feel like any harm is done looking at it from the outside it is still a huge pain in the ass to deal with. Many times they move on to another number and rarely keep the same one, so you may be good for awhile, if it keeps happening you may want to look into some of your options on that point.

lol? exactly not sure why that seems suspicious.

Please take a moment and think.

It happens. Can last about a week. The scammers will move on and use a different number. Build a good contacts list then set up DND to not accept calls unless in your contacts list. Then you won’t receive those callback calls.

CRTC is on it, asked carriers to do something and they did. But it will only work if people are using the latest phones. I think so far only Pixel phones or iPhone
CTRC I don’t think so. If appears to be a legit number it will go through like 555-123-4567.
But have stopped numbers like V1000000987789
Voip can spoof any legit number. I do it and spoof my mobile number and home number when using my voip.ms on the Zoiper app.

HI @BEER But many only join here when they have a question to ask. Couple of my friends in PM, they still don't know Community exists. LoL

Your number is spoofed and/or randomly generated by spammers.
I got a call once from Alberta lady asking why did I call you...

@softech it is an alternative it is no fun people calling you accusing you of these things and threats to call police on you not to mention the other threats and language they use

@vishu - we cannot check anything on your account, as we are all customers and members like you here.
Hopefully the person using your number will drop it from there list to use soon. There is no harm done to you other than the annoyance that someone sees your number, when it is not really you. Which, I get, is not preferable, but Public Mobile cannot do anything to prevent it from happening.

@MrSpock wrote:@vishu hi there is not a lot public can do about spamming issues if your not to fond of your number you can change it in your self serve account
@MrSpock Since it is likely just Caller ID Spoofing, I honestly would not advise people to change number just to avoid that. it is a cat and mouse game. You can never avoid it.

@vishu No worry, this is call Caller ID Spoofing
https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/telemarketing/identit.htm
It is a common thing but does not mean your number is compromised. They basically have a system to generate any random number to make the calls look like a local calls to fool others to pick up the phone. But it does no harm to you
Just like people can send letter mail and use other's address as the return address. Not something you can stop others doing, but also won't harm you in anyway
