I am receiving calls from randoms and when i answer the call, they usually last 10 seconds, after 10 seconds they hang up. I tried to call one back today and the person on the other side told me I apparently called them in the morning about some amazon delivery. I never called this person before in my life. Is there any way to prevent someone from using my number and calling others as a scam. Or would I need to change my phone number?

Hi @snuG258
it is caller id spoofing. They didn't really use your number. Just the system fake a caller id. No concern, but also nothing you can do. CRTC tried to do something but apparently not very effective

this is Caller ID spoofing.
Scammer use system to fake the caller id to fool people to think a real person is calling and not those annoying sale calls. The one receive that call see your number and not aware of caller id spoofing and hence call you back and ask

Sorry, there is really nothing much you can do to stop, but you didn't have anything compromised. So, thing to worry about

This happens a lot but there is nothing you can do.
They even spoof government numbers too. They will move on to another number eventually.
You can change your number 4 times/30 days but it is a hassle informing friends and family of your new number.
