I would suggest you take your old and new phone to any cell kiosk and have them punch out the spacer on the old SIM and install it on the new phone. They won’t charge you for the service or they shouldn’t charge you.
An elderly friend of mine had the same problem and he tried doing it himself and damaged the SIM not realizing it goes in the SIM one way but he forced the SIM into the SIM tray!
As for the SIM on order, just hang on to it, give it to a friend or family or just sell it but tell them to use your referral code so they get a $10 credit and you an additional $1/1 point credit/month.

delivery could take 2 days or as long as 3 weeks....(most are taking longer than 2 days). If you're just getting a new phone and not gonna be using the old phone...you don't need a new sim. Just take old sim outta the old and install in in the new phone.

Poor wording on Public mobile. It should take the shipping will start within 2 business days. Unless you live in the same city as the fulfillment center, there is little chance that your SIM card will arrive within 2 business days.
As for different size SIM cards, Public mobile SIM card can be punched out. So, if smaller SIM card is needed for your phone, you can punch the smaller version out and use in the new phone.

@Jack1958 What are the two sim sizes, usually they can be adjusted smaller by removing the outer part

if you are an existing customer and simply replacing the SIM card, because the old one was lost, stolen, or damaged, then yes.
You can use the Change Sim function in self-serve (under profile section ) to associate the new SIM card with your existing phone number/service.

@Jack1958 "Also will the new card use my current phone number." You will need to change the sim card number in your account and then it should work with your current phone number. That's assuming your current phone number is with Public Mobile of course. Edited to add - if your account is already with Public Mobile you just needed to take the sim card out of your old phone and put it in the new one.
