I have confirmed with the link given to me, that it is not blacklisted.

@Groovylauralee   So, did you try to move the old SIM into this phone? It should work without issue.  Try it and let us know .  Test incoming/outgoing calls and texts as well as Mobile Data.

What's an ESSENTIAL phone? What's the make and model of the phone? Have you checked the IMEI with devicecheck.ca as suggested by @softech ? Use the link in his post to rule the possibility out that it is blacklisted.

Essential Phone is the name of the phone model. It's a phone running Android.

I assume the used PM SIM card is still active? It's still linked to an active Self-Serve account?

If not - because you allowed the account to terminate after not using it, if you forced it to terminate by porting over to another provider - then it's permanently deactivated. Dead SIM cards cannot be reused.

I just received this from my friend whom was using the same service. Public Mobile    It is an ESSENTIAL phone.

@Groovylauralee

Your phone number moves with your sim card. So if you swap sim cards all your info will transfer to the new sim card.

@Groovylauralee where you got your unlock phone ? if nothing wrong with old SIM, you don't need to Change SIM.

check if your phone is blacklisted here just in case:

If I do this, will I be able to keep my Public Mobile existing number?

@Groovylauralee

Don't change your sim card in your account. The phone isn't detecting your sim card. This is likely a device issue. Check the sim slot for dirt or debris. Ensure the sim card fits snugly in the slot . You may need to use a paper shim or a little bit of tape to secure it.

@Groovylauralee

What's the message you are getting when you put your sim card in the other phone?

Thanks!  I found that b ut that is not what I want to do.  I want to keep my same SIM number. If possible??

OR, I will change SIM if I can keep the same phone number I have from Public?

Ok I see it wants me to change my SIM number.  But I rather keep my old card and same phone number?

@Groovylauralee i think you are just one step away.  Login to My Account and request Change SIM card.  You likely have to use email to receive the 2FA code (i assume you lost your old SIM or it was broken).  After you got the code and enter.   Wait 10 min and reboot your phone and should be good.

Hi!  Thanks for the reply!  I did not want to change the SIM number.  I simply want to put my old SIM into another phone.  {I only bought a spare SIM card in case I damaged this one somehow}.

@Groovylauralee

Did you first use the Change Sim card in your self-serve account?

You need to access your  self-serve account and select that option. You will receive a 2FA notification by text or email.

Once you enter the new SIM card number, you will then be able to change the Sim card.

But why would you be doing that unless there’s a problem with your existing Sim card?  It’s possible your existing SIM card may need to be re-provisioned or there is a phone setting that may need to be enabled to ensure its operation.

EDIT:  Also check this to ensure new device not Blacklisted (Depending where/how purchased):  https://www.devicecheck.ca/check-status-device-canada/
