i get one of these messages every minute for about 10 mins. Also, not sure why I can send SMS in USA. My plan is same as my wife's and hers works

Identical plan for both of us on public. I'm home now so can't investigate. Thanks for the help though

Never heard of it. Seems unlikely. Are you still in the US? You're both with Public? I don't suppose she's on the really old $60 roaming plan?
@Nezgar- He's on the promo $20 off plan. So that's 20gb for $35. I'm liking seeing it displayed that way there.

She was not on wifi. Really strange. Some loophole in her account perhaps.

Was your wife being able to text when on wifi? Did she get some kind of US service? I wonder if her texting app is also set up for RCS which uses the internet.
I'm surprised the T-Mobile service wasn't able to send texts internationally. Something doesn't seem right there.
I explained the likely source of "those bursts of SMS messages" and the 611 warnings earlier.

So, my wife has an android just like me. Neither of us bought roaming but she could send and receive texts while in the USA (could have only been to Canadian numbers through? Haven't confirmed). Mine couldn't and I'd keep getting those bursts of SMS messages from public. International SMS is slightly misleading but fine print is fine print. Just don't understand how it worked for my wife. I got a T-Mobile sim but couldn't text Canadian numbers from the USA so with both plans, Canadians in USA were unreachable by me. Sigh. I'd probably have to do outbound text with textbook app (if I used my T-Mobile as a hotspot) and incoming to my public mobile number

FYI there is currently a $45 plan which includes 20GB you can switch to now. (or $40 for 15GB)
My personal thought is sometimes there's reports of a phones continuously sending SMS to a 6-digit shortcode (I forget which one) from the Phone app trying to enable visual voicemail. If you can check your usage history, you might be able to see what number you phone may have been trying to send messages to. On and android phone, you can remove the SMS permission from the phone app to prevent it.

Do you have a roaming bundle add-on on this phone? That is your phone trying to send out texts to visual voicemail which is not offered here. And if you don't have an add-on then the system is telling you so.
That roaming switch is only for data.

Yes, seems they missed the fine print. 😉

Public should add that international text messages are from Canada only. Many customers get confused by the lack of clarification.

By turning off Roaming, the text should stop so try rebooting your phone by powering off then back on. See if that helps.

no luck yet

The unlimited texting and calling while you are in Canada not while you are in the USA.
You will need Add-on USA Roaming while in the USA like what the text you and your wife are getting.
You can use WhatsApp or TextNow for free wifi calling and texting in the USA or purchase the Roaming Add-on.

This applies as long as you're in Canada and you can send text's internationally.

@sdoxsee to send from the US you need to buy the US Roaming addon. They have a US text and talk or text/talk/data. There may be limited use as there is limited 3g coverage in the states as they decomission that tech. Is your wife using android or iOS? If iOS could she be sending via messages and wifi?

Just turn off Roaming in your phone Settings.
