Update: on someone's advice I reset all Networks from the Settings>Reset menu and it seems to have helped, I no longer get this intermitted swap to SMS.
Can iphone users who use RCS do me a favor, I'm trying to figure out if the problem is my phone or with PublicMobile service.
edit: I'm using an iphone 15Pro.
When you have RCS enabled and are texting someone who uses Android and also has RCS enabled, you will have the status indicator showing "RCS" in the typing box. After you tap send and the message goes, does that status indicator briefly change to SMS then back to RCS?

Thanks for the advice, but it's too late (woops!). No big deal though, as it's just a work phone that is only used for the basics.

I'd advise not to do that update just for this. Unless there's something you need in 18.2, many folks have had issues and as you know once you update the deadline to downgrade has already passed.

Interesting, I'm not experiencing that on my Rogers iPhone 14 running iOS 18.1.1. I'll do the update to 18.2 and see if anything changes.

This is the behavior I was talking about, not sure why it took so long for the message to go through that time but wait for the end to see what I mean. It flips to SMS and back to RCS.

Denny that does help, thankyou. It confirms that for some reason my phone doesn't stay locked into RCS.

This may not be helpful, but I have Rogers iPhone 14 and a Telus Pixel 8 with me right now, and I didn't notice that. Both on RCS. The iPhone shows 'Text Message * RCS' before I start typing, but as soon as I start typing I can't see anymore. As soon as I hit send I see the same 'Text Message * RCS'.

Never noticed but will keep my eyes on it. Most of my friends are on iPhone but a couple are on Android.

Rastin The Pixels are the 6 Pro, 8, and a newer non-pixel device.

It's only very briefly, you have to watch as soon as you send the message.
@BKNS27 I have the 15Pro, it works aside from this odd behavior (to me).

The RCS works on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Depending on the model of your iPhone. Enable it on your iPhone. Go to Settings>Apps>Messages>RCS Messaging>enable RCS Messaging. Older iPhones won’t have this setting.

@on2wheels , I have an android device. I communicate via RCS with other iPhone users and RCS works fine. From my understanding, whether the communication is via old SMS or RCS format is determined by google. If both parties have RCS capability, it becomes the default protocol. Public Mobile has no role to play here.

How old is the android? Is it capable of rcs? Have you tried more then one person with android.
