Re-Unlocking iPhone 6S?

Ericscell

Hello;

I am trying to remove Public Mobile as a carrier from my already-unlocked iPhone 6S so that I can put in a SIM from a different carrier, however the activation servers on Apple's end says that the SIM is not supported when I put the different SIM card in. Is there any way to fix this?

I do not think you have to 'remove' PM as your current carrier from your phone.

Changing providers is a matter of removing old and plugging in new SIM card. Assuming new SIM is activated and new service is ongoing.

If you are getting some errors like SIM not recognized/accepted when you plug in new SIM that means your phone is most likely locked to your old/current provider. Unless... apple has some other dirty tricks with their phones...

Did you buy phone from PM? All phones sold by PM should be unlocked after 2017.12.01.

Did you try any other SIM in your phone? How can you be sure your phone is unlocked?

@Ericscell  - have you activated the other provider's SIM card yet to use in your iPhone 6S?

If not contact that provider to activate a plan with the SIM card.

If you are using an active SIM card, try to Reset your Network Settings:

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

HI @Ericscell   did you get your iPhone from PM or Telus?

So, it was working well with PM  and just not another SIM?

You can try to open ticket with PM CS Agent, they can help if it was locked to PM or Koodo or Telus:

open a ticket with PM Support. Click on the Bubble or directly at : https://publicmobile.ca/chatbot. Follow this to get to ticket open screen quicker:

  1. type: Contact CS Agent
  2. Click "Contact Us"
  3. Click "Other"
  4. Click "Click here to submit a ticket"
  5. you will then direct to another page to open ticket.

After ticket is submitted, make sure to check your Community Inbox(top right corner envelope icon) periodically for response from PM's CS Agent

If you have problems submitting a ticket, you can aso send a private message to the moderators (but this can take longer):
