Re: Question about plans

I’ve been with PM for less than a month now and I have a few questions to which I could not find an answer:

I'm currently on the $30 unlimited Canada wide talk and text and 500mb of data; when I was with virgin, I would wind up with data overage charges all the time and I wanted to know how to avoid these with PM?

also, when I make long distance calls within Canada, the system gives me a message that I am being connected and that long distance charges may apply; is that normal and could I actually incur long distance charges despite my unlimited Canada wide calling?

are there any instances when I could incur overage charges with PM while I remain in Canada and I’m communicating within canada?

Thank you

@Rick1959 there is lots of great info contained in the knowledge base board. I would suggest you give it a look.

@Rick1959

All account inquires/billing concerns needs to be done via private messaging the moderators.  It is somewhat slow process, but that is how is works in Public Mobile.  Usually concerns are resolved in 1-2 days.

Here is instructions to contact moderator:

@Rick1959, for thos specific issues (and account level issues), you would send the moderator team a private message and they would help you out.  For more general questions, you can always ask here, in this community.

Thank you for all of the good information Robertqc, darkstar107, Luddite, and Will13am.

As there is no call centre with PM, if I have an issue that I need help with, how do I get the assistance that I need?

For example:

if PM debits my credit card twice in error, or

my data doesn’t reset to zero on the renewal date,

how do I get the issue corrected?

Prepaid doesnt have overage, that's the beauty.  If its over, it stops no service.

@Rick1959, the message about long distance charges may apply is a generic warning for situations when a customer has province wide calling and has purchased add-on minutes for long distance.  The long distance charges refer to add-on minutes being used.  As Robert points out, there are no surprise charges.  If you have not purchased the service, you will not be able to use that service rather than being billed for using its use after the fact.  This is the difference between prepaid and post paid.

Never any overages at PM. With this prepaid service a functionality will just stop if the allowance is used up; in your case if you try to use more the 500 meg. I am on the same plan but pay every 90 days to give myself more flexibility with data usage; all at the end, beginning, middle, etc.

Same for that long distance warning; if the call connects there will be no extra charge. If the message annoys you try adding 1 to the number.

Texting is international, not just Canada.

PM is pay as you go so once you are out of data you will not get anymore and you would have to manually add the 1GB data plan to your account to get more data until the next month.  If you do get the 1GB addon, the data carries over to the next month (ONLY for the data addon).

The long distance warning is pretty standard regardless of what carrier you are with, so you can just ignore that if you have unlimited canada wide calling.

This is the beauty of a pre-paid service. There are no overages because you only get what you paid for. Once you run out of data you no longer have data. If you don't have a "long distance" plan (anything outside your province / city / canada wide, canada-us, etc) plan you canno't call long distance. Its a standard warning for everyone. The system also warns you when you get close to running out of data with text messages.

There are never any extra charges ever.

If you need to add extra minutes because you used yours up

Or if you need more data because yours is gone
Or you need to call usa because you don't have canada-us you can do it in self serve or dial 611 to make a payment then add an add-on
