Public points and slow web site to use

NBChris

How do I use these so-called public points.   I have been a customer for almost 4 years now and was happy with the service, but now I don’t know what I’m paying.  My credit card was compromised in May so my phone service was interrupted, so I went on line same day and had a different credit card charged.  It was charged $28.75 for that.  My credit card was being debited $20.70/month in the past.  Now I don’t know what’s going on, the web site is so slow and useless now.  I can’t do anything on it with my good Internet connection and feels like I’m back to living in the boonies on dial up.  Am I going to have to start looking for a new cell phone provider now?

Most legacy rewards customers are unhappy with the changes since we are all paying more than before.  Several customers have moved to other carriers.

As mentioned, if you are on the $25 1GB 3G plan, consider switching to the new $19 1GB LTE plan. There are also new PM plans available also.

I would love to look into that option more but my phone is only an older iphone 7 so too small to read about options.   I used to use my phone with the 1 gb of data and unlimeted calling for $25 month.  I used to use google maps on my phone when I was out and about looking for a place, but looks like I may switch carriers now that mobile has hooped me

I have an old iphone 7 so trying to view the web iste on my phone is as useless as Public points are now.  I use my laptop on a Rogers fiber connection and the Public web site is useless....I'm paying more more now for less service...not happy  with Public right now

The website is finicky and has caching issues.  You can try a different web browser, clear cache or incognito mode.

Have you tried the Public mobile app yet?

No more monetary credits. No more loyalty nor referral nor autopay dollars.

We are all on points. You will pay FULL service price, get 5% off in points and 1 point for each referral. 10 points at anniversary. Then when you collect 15+ points you can convert them to $$ and pay the bill.

@NBChris , based on your numbers it appears that you are on a $25 plan with 15% tax.  What remains of the $8 you were savings has now been converted to points which is why you don't see any cost reduction in the renewal.  The new points reward program eliminated auto pay and loyalty which means you will lose up to 7 points ($7).  Referral and community rewards continue to be earned at the previous rate in points which can be converted to $ in batches of 15 points.  For each payment made, you will earn back 5% in points (25*0.05=1.25 points).  Every anniversary you will get 10 points.  You can view your points balance from the rewards tab in the online account.  That pretty much sums up the new points reward system.  Going off topic slightly, if you are on the $25/1GB plan, I suggest switching to the $19/1GB plan which will save $6 per cycle and recover all of the lost rewards.

Oh Boy my cost went from my credit card being charge $20.70/ month to $28.75, and I have a big 7 points in my account that from what I see is worth less.  I was happy with Public mobile but now I may take up a Rogers offer I'm being offered.

Unfortunately, with the mandatory switch to reward points, all legacy rewards customers are paying more per month since the monthly rewards (ie. autopay and loyalty) have been removed.

Here is some additional information:

Looks like that you are on the $25 1GB 3G plan.  If interested, in your self service account, there is a new unadvertised $19 plan for 1GB LTE data.  Make a schedule plan change for this new plan.  You would be paying about the same as before.

@NBChris  You have to go into the rewards portal in your account. And once you have 15 points you can redeem $15 off your bill
