Just got texts on two phones with Public Mobile plans that the monthly payment is going up with $4, In typical Public Mobile language it then invites me to click on the link, because Public Mobile has plans at the increased price but with more data than what my plans currently have. I am sure it is a scam: I logged into my account and nowhere anything about any increase; the amount that will be deducted next month is still the same. Please confirm?

same here, going up $4 to 20, so they recommend I go with the $24 plan. I get some bonuses so I'm stuck for now.

Unfortunately, what you see is what you can get. They would rather lose long time customers for new ones; its cheaper for them.
Many people say that better prices are advertised in the app as opposed to web in your My Account, however I believe it's the same.

I am on the $20/month plan for 3G. On Feb 27, I received a text informing that the monthly rate will increase to $24/month, effective Apr 1/26. However, it said that I can change to an 8G plan for the same ($24) price.
I really don't need more data, I just want to keep my monthly payments low. Do I have to look for another carrier? Any other low-cost plans with PM that are not being advertised? Lowest I see is $20/m, which I might switch to, and top up with data using PM Points.

I got the same text, not sure it is a scam, I fell for it and upgraded but I don't see any information to confirm I did this, it has me at my current subscription, I am waiting till my cycle renews, hope that helps

That's my plan. 👍 Unfortunately, I can't do it right away because I have a $20 reward redemption I need to use up. It's a much cheaper plan than the PM $20 plan anyway, but will it still be that price in a year's time? Not likely.
Anyway, in this economy, I'm looking for cheap. I couldn't care less about data. It's a shame that PM can't get with the program. I hate to leave, but there's not much to be done about it. They just simply are no longer competitive like they were in the past.

My Wife's got the text that her $20 plan was going up by $4, but as of yet I have not received a text advising me my same plan was going up. So I contact CS agent and they did advise my plan would be going up. Here is my response to the agent. "Thanks for getting back to me. I fully understand that you are only the messenger, but it is a bit disheartening to have a 20% increase to my $20 plan. I switched from my $18 plan a couple of yrs ago because PM was offering me 3 GB for $20. Great Deal because I only average maybe 1.5 to 2 GB of data usage per month. Now, PM is basically forcing me to move up to an 8 GB plan for $24. I wouldn't use 8 GB of data in 4 months, let alone 1 month. Plus, PM isn't getting rid of the $20 plan their just offering it with 500 MB. Truthfully I don't see how PM should be allowed to do this? Anyway Carlos its not your fault, but I would appreciate it if you would let the Management know that this change is not in their customers best interest, nor is it to insure all of the PM customers have the fastest data Speeds. Its still only 4g. Sorry But I feel I needed to let someone know how frustrating this change is to they loyal customers".

yes it will.. It seems there is an increase across the board.
I got the same message and I didn't want to pay the extra so I switched to another plan with a slightly higher price but with more data. I found changing it through the app is better than doing it online.

More likely yes yours will increase also. Seems that people on the $19, $20 and $23 dollar plan have received this sms.
Double check your phone.
If you don't see anything, you might want to double check with agent directly. You would need to use the chatbot to create a ticket. The price increase will be an increase of price without more data if they do raise it on you.
Sign into your My Account and check if you have a better plan that you can change to if you want.

My friend has the same cell plan as I do. He got a text stating his plan was being increased by $4. I did not receive a text from PM. My plan is $20 - 3 GB - Canada Wide. Can someone please advise if my existing cell plan is going to be increased? Thanks

You can always move to Koodo. They have a 360 day plan it includes 30 GB of data unlimited Canada wide calling and international text and picture messaging for $149.

You could select Change on Renewal. Wait until day before your renewal in March. If the option is still there, you can cancel the change and renew at your old price in March for at least one more month. After you renew, you can then select the change on renewal again and wait to see what happens.
I plan to do the same thing while I explore other plans (e.g. annual prepaid plans at freedom and chatr).

I don't see any choice for now. So I'm switching to 25$ from 20$. I don't need more data but I don't see other cheaper plan.
02-28-2026 12:57 PM
I only get $25 5GB offer from Telus. I'm here at Public Mobile to save money, not spend more. Something they've seemed to lose focus over.
02-28-2026 12:40 PM
Nope, it's my first time hearing about it, but then again PC mobile loves to give promos.
02-28-2026 12:31 PM
Very annoyed with the increase. They are forcing us to pay for more data no matter we want it or not. At the same time I received a text message from PM about a Telus promo for 15 GB 5G data for $25, had anyone else also received this promo?
02-28-2026 12:28 PM
@funpig1 You could combine a data only plan with VoIP service, Fongo and TextNow for example.

@armtl check out fizz

It's not fair for the loyalty clients. The new clients got $20 plan with 60G data and Canada/US/Mexico

Nope. PC Mobile is doing it for everyone right now. Mine went up to 23$ to 25$ too. But it seems they are doing it to only the 20$ plans because around October, they did the same thing with plans of 15$ to 18$ too.
02-28-2026 11:34 AM
My $20 plan will goes up to $24 on April 1, is that true? or Spam message? I remember the new client just got $20 for 60G
02-28-2026 09:18 AM
Yes I don't want more data either. So our choices are limited. I too will look elsewhere but not seeing anything much better. I will stay with PM until I use up all my points to pay my monthly bills and then will probably go elsewhere. I have been with PM for a long time, since before they went to points, and have quite a few friend referrals. So I do have a lot of points. Haven't been paying much attention to them, but now will start cashing them in to pay my bill each month.
02-28-2026 09:09 AM
How unfair is that? They should offer us the 20$ plan with less data instead of forcing us to pay more.
02-27-2026 08:54 PM
My guess is they want to move people to newer plans. But unfortunately the incentive is ultimately to just switch every year or so.
02-27-2026 08:53 PM
Yes that came in today for me too. Not nice.
02-27-2026 07:10 PM
Yes, I agree. But some sim is automatically roaming when travelling abroad. it is very helpful if you need to receive the security code if you are still abroad. Sometimes, it is neccessary when you accesss your bank when you are far from Canada.
02-27-2026 07:01 PM
If you are an intermittent mobile data user of 1-3 GB per month, I believe that pay-as-you-go (PAYG) global roaming data esims should be considered in combination with a cheap voice/text plan. These PAYG data esims are particularly great if you do a lot of travelling to different countries. Some have non-expiring credit balances. The money just sits there until you actually use it. Current choices include Jetogo, Roamless and Bcengi. I expect more will pop up soon. Good luck with your search.
02-27-2026 06:56 PM
Then there should be an option to switch to the current in market plan with less data?
02-27-2026 06:50 PM
I don’t need more data, so I would look for other carriers! Also, if I switched to other carriers, then my accumulated points will be lost! It’s not fair that PM increase the price with such a short notice! I guess they don’t care about existing customers any more!
02-27-2026 06:32 PM
anybody on the $19 1GB or2GB plan getting an increase?
02-27-2026 06:14 PM
@hncfreyja2 wrote:I changed from the $19 plan to the $20 to get more data and now instead of paying $19, I gotta pay an extra $5 a month for basically nothing?
life is just full of choices. I was offered the $20 plan too. I like it having more data. But in the end, I know i won't use it, and I am not greedy, I decided to stay with my $18 plan. Glad I made the right choice
Cheer it up, you didn't really pay $5 for nothing, the hike was only $4. That $1 was something you decided to pay and was expected. It is unfair that you can that $1 into the price hike
