Price Hike -Promotional Offer also affected?

George42

Hello everyone,

I recently received a notification that my 23 dollar plan will be bumped up to 25 on April 1st.

It also notifies me that I can get a special offer for 25 with more data.  My question is:

Is the 25 dollar plan going to then go to 28 come April 1st?

Thank you!

Here's a quote if the message received:

"Sarting April 1, 2026, your monthly plan will increase by $2 per month, going from $23 to $25 on your next renewal.

But wait, there's a silver lining. You can switch to a plan with more data for $25."

Scouting the many $25 plans for 25gb on the open market right now.

No, my grandfather who is on that plan has not gotten any notification on price increase but does have a promotion to switch if you need it.

So basically no not on 19 at 1gb

hi @George42

which plan he has?  only 2 plans are affected

$20 3GB and $23 6GB.   If you have a $20 or $23 plan but the data is not as said above, then that is not affected

Yes. I have just received the notification today. It will be increased 4$ in my plan from 20 to 24$. We can't do much. If you are unhappy, you can think of switching to a new provider such as Freedom mobile, Fizz mobile or Fido.

@Dianna58

just be aware that Public Mobile reserves the right to adjust costs (raise prices) but they'll give us a few weeks notification.

HI @Dianna58

if you have a $20 3GB plan or $23 6GB plan, then yes.  The $20 plan will see a $4 hike and the $23 will see only $2 hike

if you do not have one of the 2 plans, then you are not affected

anybody on the $19 1GB or2GB plan getting an increase?

hi @Pepe_1029

unless is a province issue, I see the $25 for 25 GB on their website.  The $35 is in fact 35 GB

I don’t see koodo $25/25GB. I do see $25 pay per use and $35/25GB

Sadly, PM of yesteryear (or rather2-3 years ago) seems almost quaint.

However, there are other options out there.  Even Koodo (PM's sister company) has $25/25GB promo prepaid currently and still has the $15/500MB (with autopay) and unlimited talk/text for anyone not needing oodles of data.  FM also offer price guarantees (no increases as long as you stay on the plan).  I'd suggest checking out CCS for discounted SIMs/plans.

Not sure, how long this post will stay up since I've mentioned alternatives but whatever...

Will turn from $23 to 25 on the "next renewal.

hi @George42

i would say they likely won't have price hike to those who changed to this new $24 and $25 plan yet.
just like the $18 plan and $19 plan, they were not affected by this price hike

Perhaps yes, but it certainly is very a shifty and intentionally vauge statement.

And in my perspective, same with new offer.  It mentions nothing of the price AFTER April 1st.  Or if the price hike affects affects my current plan.

Not sure if it's perchance, or intentional, but it is pretty annoying regardless.

It's odd that they aren't just bumping the $23 customers to $24. I'm currently on a $20/3GB plan and I have the option to choose $24/8GB. If I don't choose to move to this plan, they'll just charge me $24 anyway for the 3GB I already have, so I guess I'll have to switch.

Same here. We can’t even downgrade. Not sure what to do

George42
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

Yeah I just wanted to confirm, because it wasn't explicitly mentioned and they said the price increase starts in April 1st.

So I could sign up for it today, pay one month's bill at 25 and then get hit with a 2 dollar increase come April's bill.  As far as I'm aware, nothing says they can't do that.

I like how the premise of public mobiles very front page is, "subscriptions like your TV, Music" and says "you pay the same every month"... Right.

hi @George42

but they were not wrong, it didn't say you pay the same forever.  it just means no overage charges

and same with TV and Music, they are allowed to increase price with sufficient notice

Yes you are correct. Just saw it as I posted it, and couldn't not change it unless posted.  It got the point across so I figured I'd leave it

Yep, just have the $25 for 10gb available to change to.  Would have been nice to have the $24 for 8gb.  Doesn't make a difference to my wife.  But PM just like to get as much blood from a stone they can.

George42

Yes it looks like your right.

It looks to be 20 -> 24 for 8GB

And 23 -> 25 for 10gb.

@George42 @fleety15

You are on $23 and only offered $25?

There is a $24 8 GB plan which they are making available to me while I'm currently on a $20 3GB plan.

It's interesting if they did not offer the $24 plan to you. I guess the fact that you are paying $3 more than me to start means that they could gouge you for more money.

My wife was notified about the $23 to $25.  Checked to see what the offer for the new $25 plan and it was 10GB. But she doesn't even use the 6GB now. So waste of money on our end.

Which is outragous. Public offered me the $20 plan if I switched from my previous plan. I took the offer and now they are jumping it 20%. Corporate greed has no end.

hi @Trixxstrr

btw, you had a wrong subject line, it was only $3 price hike, not $5

Trixxstrr
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I'm on the $20 for 3 GB now, my offer for $24 is 8 GB.

hi @George42

the price increase is only for selected plans.  So far look like only those on $20 -> $24, and $23 -> $25

if you got offered $25  for more data, then choose that, that plan will stay the same price for now

btw, how much data you were offered for $25?
