Porting number from Rogers to PM worked... sort of

I was helping my neighbor set up a new account with Public Mobile. Using the info available here, we inserted the pm simcard, and downloaded the pm app and activated his account with a new number without issue. I told him, just to be on the safe side, we should wait a day before trying to port his number from Rogers. The following day, we went into his account to change his number. With the Rogers card installed on his phone, we followed the instructions, got a message from Rogers asking him to confirm the request to port out his number. He replied "Yes" and he got a confirmation that the number is being ported. After this, we removed the Rogers simcard and inserted the PM simcard. We tested the ported number. Send and recieve calls was successful. Send & recieve text messages was also successful. His account shows the ported number. Here is the problem. Even after shutting off and restarting the phone, the phone settings "About Phone" still indicates the phone number that PM assigned on the new account and not the ported number. Any ideas on how to correct this?

Hi @Yummy

Everything seems to be okay. The account shows the ported number although the eversafe ID indicates the number assigned by PM. The same thing is true for his wifes' phone.

OK I tried to reset the network settings, turned phone off and then restarted phone. The phone works fine with his ported # but the simcard ("About Phone") still indicates the number issued by PM. More curiously, we did the same thing for his wifes' phone with the same result.

Confirm what number shows on his account when logging to PM account.

Maybe his phone did not sync with PM account or needs few days to do it. If really everything is OK (service) maybe he can manually override what phone is having. I do not see that option on Android, though.

Hi @hTideGnow

Yes, he can recieve calls. No, it is not an iPhone. It is an android. I will tell him to give that a try. Thanks for the idea.

hi @HuronBob1

but he can receive inbound calls?

An easy way to resolve the phone number issue in the About screen is to click Reset network settings on the phone and reboot the phone once

If it does not work, and if it is an iPhone, simply go to Settings and manually remove the phone number, reboot phone and go back Settings to enter the phone number back
