I ported my number and set up a new public mobile account but did not receive a confirmatioln of transfer from my current provider.
I still have my old SIM in the phone

In case anyone find this post. The solution was that the SMS had to be resent. I did so by connecting with Customer Service.

Both account have to be active in order to transfer number.
You Should receive SMS within 90 min of initiating port request. Maybe you did miss it?
