I just upgraded plan from $25-$35 one gig to 50 gigs will my wife’s plan upgrade automatically from her $15 plan. The reason being she cannot send texts when my data ran out.

@Dougal1   As already noted, basic text messaging doesn't use data but iMessage, for example, does.  By chance is your wife on the newer $15 plan that has no data included and, if so, is she using your phone's data via a hotspot on your phone?  That's the one possible way I can think of that she is dependent upon your data.

@Dougal1, as an important FYI, Public Mobile is no longer offering the $15 plan (unless you live in Quebec) so if your wife decides to change her plan she will not be able to go back to it again, it will be gone for good. Also on a similar subject, moving up in plans is very easy with PM but moving down to cheaper plans is nearly impossible, or at least PM is not providing much in options so something else to think about before changing. On a final note, it's highly recommended that when changing plans you choose to "Change on renewal" and NOT "Change now" as change now will immediately bill your card for the new plan subscription and you will lose any unused days/data on you previous plan

hi @Dougal1

as everyone explained that the issue was just iMessage and not a plan issue.  If you have only scheduled the plan change with Change on Renewal, then you can still cancel it

but if you used Change now option, then sorry, the change was done.

@Dougal1 Your wife's inability to send texts is in no way related to your account and your data. On the $15 plan she still needs to have data turned on (it isn't counted towards any allotment) to send MMS. Basic SMS should not be affected by any of this.

SMS text messaging doesn't use data.  Running out of data doesn't cause that to stop working.  Data running out preventing message from being sent, means that the messages aren't really text messages, but rather a form of instant messaging.

Hey there, each account/phone number is designated to its own plan. If you accepted the plan upgrade on your account, it will only take place on your account and not your wife's.  But she can keep an eye out for deals as there are plenty of black friday deals coming out, and with her being on the $15 plan, she will likely get a good deal (public mobile only offers deals to upgrade, so since you were on a $25 plan they offered you a $35 plan, with her on the $15 they may offer her a $20-$25 plan with more data.)

@Dougal1 @No that will just upgrade your plan , she would need to log into her account and make pan change if she wants new plan .

adding her sending text would have nothing to do with your plan . Except for if the text she’s sending is iMessage or MMS in that case you need to have data and have cellular data turned on to send and recieve if just using SMS you should both be able to text one another regardless of data @Dougal1
