We are considering getting a 5G 30 GB unlimited Canada plan at $34 per month.
Somewhere in our future, we will be in USA, so need unlimited Canada & USA voice / text and 30 GB data.
How does adding the USA capabilities, for say 2 months work with Public Mobile? Does this involve extra fees to change to USA capable and then change to eliminate USA capabilities?
How are changes effected?

Just a thought - recently returned home from SC. Our Telus data ran out and do not like the $20 + HST price for 3 GB, so bought a Straight Talk sim card package which cost $42 USA for 1 month of unlimited NA talk - text and 10 GB of data. Took out a USA number for this and am now getting emails to refill subscription, which is optional. Is this how PM works - our Telus numbers are ported to PM, we prepay & refill every month, with an option to upgrade -----

hi @pbudreski
so, you are not PM customers yet?
for the 10 months in Canada you can simply join the $19 Canada only plan for 1GB.
Then you can add 15 days US addon for $30 (data/text/voice) or $15 for 15 days for Talk and Text only whenever you go there. However, it could be expensive as it is only for 15 days
if you just nee data and don't need calls, you can also just get travel esim with other companies
another option is to simply join $35 Canada/US/Mex plan which you can use your full service in US without paying extra roaming fess

Thanks for this. We are retired and currently Telus customers. Family uses PM. I was a CPA for 45 years and very comfortable with IT and software. Unsure how to proceed. Is there a step by step guide somewhere - and going back to my original question - we are in Canada for say 10 months of the year needing only unlimited Canada talk - text. If we decide to spend a couple of months in the SE USA, how do the logistics work to deploy a subscription package that is more robust - on online process perhaps - does it need to tie into the billing period currently subscribed to -----

piece of advise...before you do decide on the Cdn / US plan..make sure you have a volte enabled cellphone to ensure best talk experience while in USA. What make/model is yours ?

If you don't know how Public Mobile work, I would personally advise you to go to the website and read up about it to get an idea.
The one major difference with other phone companies, is that there is no telephone support, everything is by messaging and this community. If that matters to you.
If you do decide to switch to PM, then you would pick the plan that best suite your needs.
Here are a few links that might be helpful.

We are still with other provider and have no clue how PM works. For 10 months a year, we are in Canada. For the other 2 months of the year, we are in USA. How do we switch to get the right kind of coverage?

Canada-US plans includes roaming, but in the case of the $34/50GB plan, that doesn not include roaming. Public Mobile does not charge extra pay per use fees. If something isn't already included in your plan or an add-on that you've purcahsed, that part of the service won't work.
