Phone shows bars, but no internet

Is there a secondary service status that isn't displayed on phones? I'm on android (15 on a OnePlus 13). I'm in an area of Calgary where my phone shows 5g and full bars, but the Internet service is horrible.

What's going on? I've cleared cache, restarted the phone, etc etc. airplane mode on and off. Physical sim which works great usually in other areas.

Rarely use the "phone", it has always worked as needed. Too much so with the amount of spammers.

No, same band generally

But your phone is not on PM's VoLTE whitelist and it will need 3G for voice and hence you might see problem with voice calls sometimes

Yes, all of that is/was set properly.

Internet/data works usually. But sometimes even with 5g/full bars/voLTE showing in the status, it still hangs and is dreadfully slow. Like dialup.

That's why I'm asking if there are two different bands that phones use with 5g - one for basic comms and one for data?

@Sarneli

you have an OnePlus.  With OnePlus you need to make sure the APN is correct, and there might be a bit more work than simply updating.  Many confirmed that you need to delete the current APN profile first.  Then Add new profile and add according to this, please note case-sensitive and do not add extra spaces.  Remember to save the new APN and then reboot the phone before you try

Everything else works. Sms, RCS even. But actual browsing or using media apps like IG, YouTube, chrome, etc. are all troublesome. I even have a new phone recently with no improvements. (I didn't do a flat across phone data transfer - I set it up as a new phone).
