I recently ported over from Fido, calls, texting and data are working fine, but my phone doesn't know what my phone number is, it shows as unknown. It's not a big deal but it does cause some issues with texting/sms.
A bit of searching makes me think it's related to the sim card.
Any ideas?

I tried swapping in my coworkers Fido SIM, it worked without issue and showed the correct phone number under settings/status. When I put my Public SIM back it is back to showing unknown for phone number

Thanks for the quick response everyone. The phone shows the number as unknown under settings/status, same with using *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer. The number was showing fine when I was with Fido. No recent updates to the phone, LG stopped update support a while ago.
Wednesday
I will give that a try

HI @MottD
try this. Instead of testing your sim on another phone, it will be much ore useful to put another active sim in your phone. That would cause the device to update the system (with the other phone number).
Then put your own sim card back and check if that helps. Since the LG phone had to made some update with the other sim card, it might than able to refresh and put your correct phone number back

It was set to network default.

@MottD Go to Phone - Menu - Call Settings - Additional Settings - Other Settings - Caller ID - Hide Number. Does it say Show Number or Hide Number there?

@MottD, go to settings, about phone, SIM status. The phone number should show there. I have seen older phones not update information properly on SIM status, but it is no big deal as the SMS and phone apps are able to pick up the proper phone number from the mobile network. As for your suspicions that this issue can be related to the SIM card, I would say it is possible to embed the phone number into the SIM card so that the phone can read the number from the SIM card. I have done this for older phones that required. To do so I had to run a root app. It is bit of a messy process.

HI @MottD
i assume it is not a field you can update it yourself?
if that still does not work, it might need a Reset phone to clear that up.

Just to clarify something. Did your phone number show up before? And if it did, have you done any updates to the software/firmware of the phone. I ask because I know my iPhone does some weird stuff after I update it. LOL

I haven't tried the Sim in another phone yet.

Hey @MottD
What phone do you have? It sounds like you have your number blocked in the settings. Have you tried your SIM card in a different phone to see if you have the same issue?
Wednesday
HI @MottD
not a sim card problem, just a device setup issue
try to Reset All Networks on your phone and it should pick up the phone number
