I subscribed to the 23 dollar plan. I chose the esim route but that didn't work out so I bought a sim card. I chose a new phone number but my phone isn't showing a phone number. In setting it shows there is a public moble card in the phone but now phone number and the phone is now useless. Yes, I did a factory reset as well.

Ok I'm done I'm just going to go to another carrier. This is the worst experience with any company I've ever had.

if Reset Network settings does not work, check if you can edit manually phone number on the settings

Yes I just tried and it says phone number unknown.

Usually a Reset Network Settings will fix it
but make sure you have latest iOS too

Have you tried rebooting your phone? Another thing to try is to place the SIM card in another device to see if it works there. If you want to reach a support agent that might help get things working faster as there might be something on their end that is needed.
