PM sends text 20GB, 4G, $39. Just an FYI and for parents of youngsters

I have 3 PM Accounts and are beyond 3 years of service. PM is great! Today was my first text offer.  I mainly posted this for parents to see how to avoid any further offers that you may not want your young teen to accept.

I truly wanted to thank you @Grinch for your help. Some how I got locked out of my account and after resetting my password a gazillion times, I read the small print. Since my activity was ‘suspicious’ my account was locked for an hour. I did check my account and yes, I do have “1043mb at 3G speed” on my plan, which didn’t used to be there. I never check out my account because my monthly bill kept getting smaller so I’m not one to complain about that!  Again, thanks for the help!

It's not super obvious though. From the app I have to click change subscriptions, then click back, then I see the scheduled plan change. I'd never think to look there.

Yes, scheduled plans show. But it does put the onus on the parent to always be on the watch. Say you're a single parent barely getting by but you decided to spring for a phone and maybe the $15 plan just to keep in touch with Susie (how did we survive before cellphones 🙂 ).

Ok so my main reason to post this was for parents with younger children that inadvertently answer yes and cause an expense and put the parents in the process to change the plan back.

Sooooooo if someone does answer yes, will the upcoming change show in your MY Account? That way a parent could check the account a few days before renewal. And then could they cancel the change in their MY Account??

No, DATA? Check your MY ACCOUNT

Renewal? Once again check your MY Account. You need the email address and password that you used when you set up your account on day one.

Is this a good deal and how long does it last?

Depends on your needs. And also you should do a price comparison to consider it a good deal or not. Perhaps others here can let you know.

Could it be my “annual” renewal date is coming up and that’s why I got this same text?

Not sure....may be....but best to check your My Account. Let's say .... if your next payment is 3 months away then normally you lose that money that you prepaid. Pro rating is not the norm here. Perhaps some one here can tell you how the text "deals" work. Or contact a CSA. It was proven that the text is NOT related to your next payment date. BUT do keep in mind that the text says the new plan will kick in on your next renewal. So.....check your My Account.

I do not have a “plan” or a subscription…just month to month. Thanks to whomever can help!

You're month to month?? You are confusing us.....as now you say month to month. BEST is check your My Account.

@JoJoBean1  Or if you ever visit . Price per GB is even better with the 40GB $50 plan then 20GB  for $39 even if you don’t use the US roaming feature . But if you don’t need more then 20GB for $39 is solid plan to .I’m on it myself LOL

That would be a great plan . . . if I knew someone in the states! Lol

@JoJoBean1  Then reply YES to it and it will change in your renewal date automatically. And the plan has no expiry date . Will stay the same until you change plans again . And note plans are 30 and 90 day cycles not monthly

Adding you can just change to this plan yourself in your my account also . In subscriptions / add ons page  you’ll also notice there’s 40GB for $50 CAN/US plan to which is another great offer that’s also being sent out in text too @JoJoBean1

@DennyCrane

So much for me doing a “thorough” read. My bad.

@dust2dust @DennyCrane  this is what I thought . Was only trying to say that to @hTideGnow and @Grinch

@Handy1- It says so in the text - "added to your account on the your next renewal date".

@hTideGnow  If I had the text I’d reply YES  just to test it and then change plan change for next renewal . I highly doubt this is for immediate plan change

@Grinch Based on past with the $40/15GB plan, I think they'll only send it once. Or no more than once per cycle anyway. And I'm sure they'd refresh their data with current plan info before they'd send another blast.

HI @Handy1  we need someone to post real screenshot for that. LoL

@Grinch  I think you just reply YES and then they send you another text saying thank you and your plan  will change on your renewal

add in light of @DennyCrane @and @dust2dust  pointing  it out in the text offer it’s for your renewal date . I think you just reply YES and that’s it no more text about it

@DennyCrane

Just wondering then. If you take the offer, are more texts sent… like.. start now or start at renewal?

@Yummy

Yes I do. Can you prove that it won’t?

Do you really, really, Really believe 'stop' will stop marketing department to send you promo SMS?

I doubt they will actually delete your number from their database; so in a few months some glitch will make it work again...

@Grinch Nope - I just got an offer today for the $50/40GB Can/US plan, but my renewal date isn't until Aug 13. I think today was marketing blast day in general. We'll see how many others come forward though

Grinch

And duh! My plan payment is due tomorrow. Thus, I imagine, if I took the offer it would have changed tomorrow and no loss of funds. Now that’s well thought out!

So I would assume that text offers only come the day before your renewal date.

Maybe one day I will upgrade to get more data. But I am very happy with the plans I have.

Oh wow, Telus marketing department is on fire today! Nice to see they are applying some personalized logic to their offers. Obviously they've got an aggressive goal to increase ARPU.
