No calling east Toronto

SHEILAB1

Since March 30 I can't send or receive calls in east Toronto (Victoria Park, Warden); texting works.

However north of hwy 7 calling works as it should.

What's the fix?

hi @SHEILAB1

test with a Telus sim card (maybe with the Telus sales) to confirm your A12 can use VoLTE with Telus first before joining

Good Luck

OK that makes sense.

The CSC says it's from Kazakhstan via Amazon...

I'll need to get it set to Canada Telus. TLS

Thanks for your help 🙂

hi @SHEILAB1

did you buy via private sell, or marketplace or Amazon? this is not a Canadian model.  This is a dual sim version and is designed for Europe and Hong Kong.  This does not have all the bands needed on 3G now

Model is SM-A125F/DSN

Bought in Canada

HI @SHEILAB1

did you buy the A12 in Canada or US? Apparently this is a model that has different regional variants.

And instead of "A12", if you check the About screen on the phone, what is the exact model number?  Some like SM-A125WZKAXAC or similar long model number

Samsung galaxy A12 was built from 2021 and has 1900 band.

All LTE/3G/2G bands are activated, but no calling where I live in East Toronto.

I also tried reseting networks but no fix.

@SHEILAB1

A12 has only the 3G-850 and hence it was impacted by Telus' recent band realignment.  Honest, it will get worse.  You should consider upgrading to phones like Samsung A16, A36, S24FE or S25.  Those phones have both 850 and 1900 on 3G and some of the above also on PM's VoLTE whitelist,  they will give much more reliable voice calls experience

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A12 in Toronto.

Outside east Toronto everything works. However where I live no calling, just text.

It's a Samsung galaxy A12.

Everything worked until a few days ago.

I also swapped Sim card but no fix.

hi @SHEILAB1

what phone do you have? and what city you are at?

Telus is refarming all of their 850 to 10 MHz LTE B5 in their markets, mainly BC, AB, Windsor, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City.   Bell has not done this, so it won't affect area that has Bell networks which Telus/PM use

So, it might affect voice calls for phones that has only 850 Band 5 on the phone but lack 1900 Mhz, those phone people bought in other country.    If you phone has 1900 Mhz, if your phone are those that sold in Canada,  it likely won't impact you, you won't see any service degrade

what model of phone is that?

some phones that do not have the proper 3G bands might not work well with calls anymore
