Hello,
Not sure if this may be an issue with my phone or if it's related to PM/carrier. I had no issues receiving notifications for voicemails until I noticed there was an app for voicemail (Visual Voicemail). Not sure if the timing was coincident, but I believe this was around the time I switched to PM.
Since then, I haven't been receiving notifications for voicemail on my phone. I can either use the app to check for voicemails or manually call, but the issue is that I would have to check manually rather than being notified for new voicemails.
Tl;dr
- Voicemail is set up and works
- Voicemail (app) notification is on
- Can manually check/access for voicemails
- Not receiving notification for new voicemails (have to manually check)
Edit:
- I have an Android phone (LG V6)
- "Voicemail" app seems to be built-in as I cannot uninstall/disable

@s2chan - try performing a Reset of your Network Settings. See if that helps.
This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.
LG V6:
From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings. Select the General tab or scroll to and tap Reset. Tap Network settings reset > RESET SETTINGS > Reset Settings.

@s2chan did you check your notifications settings?
At the Phone app click on the 3 dots on top right, select Settings, then click Voicemail, then click Notifications. There check if Alert is set and if Show Pop Up is enabled

I didn't realize there was an outage :0 I did notice one day that I didn't receive phone calls nor text messages (realized when my fiance mentioned he texted me, or when I called someone and they told me they left me a voicemail message but I didn't even see an incoming or missed call). I restarted my phone and this seemed to help with that issue, but regarding the missing notification for voicemail messages, I've had this issue for a long while now (not sure how long). I'll try to see if I can put my SIM in another phone and give it a try to see if it's carrier related or phone related, but so far trying to look for notification settings to change and whatnot hasn't resolved anything.

It's for a Samsung but maybe something like this will do something.

The notification I used to receive before this Voicemail app would be the typical icon in the notification bar (I think it looked like a cassette tape? I haven't seen the notification in a while so I don't remember). Now there's no notification whatsoever but if I call my voicemail number (since the app takes a while to open) it will let me know if there's a voicemail. Ideally I don't want to have to check manually and would rather just know when a voicemail is left like I used to.

What kind of notification are you looking for? My voicemail notifications are accessed thru my phone/dialer app.
Go to the 3 dots top right of your screen>>Settings>>Voicemail>>Notifications >>Advanced>> Choose your notification settings.

Hmmm I have always been a galaxy user. It sounds like it should work for you if it is already what came with the LG - it may be an issue as discussed above that had to do with the outage. Give those suggestions a try and hopefully that remedies it for you.

Thanks for the reply! I want to keep factory reset as an absolute last resort. I do have an Android (LG V6) and one of the main reasons why I have one is because I unfortunately love customizing things on my phone haha.
I made an earlier response to someone else, but in case you may be able to think of other solutions, the app itself (literally called Voicemail) seems to be built-in since I can't uninstall or disable. I've looked through the settings on the app itself as well as the voicemail service (from manually calling) and I couldn't figure out any alternatives to change/adjust the notification nor voicemail service that would be able to see new voicemail notifications. 😞

Thanks for the response! I've double checked the app itself and it seems to be built-in since I can't disable nor uninstall. I see the "Force Stop" button but not sure if that's only temporary or if I should give that a try. I tried to look for settings on the app itself as well as the voicemail service (from calling manually) and I couldn't seem to find an alternative for notification settings l. 😞

Sometimes it is best remedy - factory reset. But if you have a lot of customized apps it is pain to put them all back the way they were...

I had the same problem during the PM outage at the beginning of April. Maybe try calling you number with another phone and see if it goes straight to voicemail. If it does,
try powering off the phone and put the SIM to another phone to reset the SIM then put the SIM back to your phone.

It should work on factory settings - what phone do you have? Android should just have the New Voicemail notification in the drop down menu

I have no issues with PM's voice mail notifications. But I do not use any 3rd party vmail apps or helpers. Keep it simple and it will work as designed.

I would remove the app and see if the problem goes away. PM doesn't have VM and this could be creating the conflict

If that app is intercepting incoming calls then I would disable it because Public doesn't use visual voicemail. Your phone app should be doing the call reception and the call forwarding settings in it should be going to a voicemail access number. See if changing things around will give the notification.
