I got a 5G plan today and the 5G worked for a few seconds while setting up my eSim. I'm in a solid 5G area according to the coverage map, but I'm getting only LTE.  i have an Iphone 5G compatible. Did Network reset and no luck. Can't create a ticket neither error 404...Vulcan, Alberta.

This happens a lot, 5G networks are far from being consistent in Canada fight now. It's mainly that a different one might be stronger depending on where you live.

I've noticed for instance that the 5G Telus/Bell network far more widespread and reliable where I live than Rogers.

I agree @DennyCrane

as long as the download speed is good, no hiccup, who cares LTE or 5G

and PM's plan now is more you are choosing the data amount you need rather than network.

Honestly the 5G network is overrated in my experience. I get much a more consistent experience on the LTE network, so I lock it on that. I still get faster speeds with my 5G plan, even on the LTE network. As it matures I'll change, but for now I find the LTE network rock solid.

In Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Voice & Data you should have the choice of 5G auto, 5G On, LTE and 3G.   I have mine on 5G Auto and most of the time it says LTE even if I'm in a 5G area.  In certain areas or depending what I am doing it switches to 5G.  It's a battery saver thing.  If you want to be on 5G all the time then you need to set it to 5G On.

iphones seem to need to be updated to 16.6 or later to enable 5G.

Hello @Cocoliso , Is your iPhone set to 5G preferred (5G ON/5G Auto) in network settings? Ticket system has been under maintenance. If you get an error, you can always contact a Customer Support Agent via private message. I've included a link below.

@Cocoliso

what phone do you have?

some phone like iPhone would only use 5G when you are downloading a lot and need the speed and will keep it on 4G most the time to consume power

Also, if you have Power Save mode enabled, many Android phones will do the same
