So I ordered the $5 SIM card from Amazon on Feb 29, it was supposed to arrive March 1.
March 1 came and went, no SIM card. Checked Amazon to see what's up to find out the new ETA is now March 5. Plan expires March 4.
I know I can go to a store and pick one up and cancel/return the Amazon one. However, if I ordered the free SIM through the website/app, my understanding is that as long as I pay the $34, it locks in the rate until the SIM arrives.
Is this the best strategy, or go to the store and buy it to ensure I get this plan?

No problem.
Your plan will not start until your SIM card arrives and you finish the activation. Finish the activation via the PM app.

Yes, as long as you subscribe and pay for the $34 plan with the free SIM card immediately, it does lock the rate until the SIM card arrives. Typical shipping times are up to 10 business days.
