I am trying to login to my new account for the first time. I just activated the sim card. I get the 2FA notification that an sms message will be sent to my current phone number but I am not receiving any sms. I don't think the sms is working?

I forgot to mention? Or ask make and Model of device? I would verify internal phone settings such as sms / mms etc.. if your settings are not correct? You won't receive any sms messages. Verify network settings then your sms / mms settings and also cellular data network has to be on .

you requested porting? if so and if porting not done, the text would be sent to your old carrier sim card instead of the PM sim card. Put it back and check
or you can confirm if you can receive inbound calls as well. If you cannot, it further confirm your port request was not done
