Hi @eddieO i just did the activation/port for my son's phone.  thank you for that bit of into.  I missed the button to select "transfer number"
Waiting for his old SIM to become inactive.
thank you!

@Ray_Gar1 you likely missed the step. From memory I think it was the last step that you could choose a new number or to Transfer existing number. When transferring existing number it's advisable to provide your old provider's account number rather than your phone's IMEI number. Many report issues when trying to use IMEI. For me, I chose to transfer my old number in right away and had zero issues. Took around an hour and a half to complete. Every 15 minutes or so I would call my cell from another line with the old SIM still in my phone. When it stopped ringing I knew the port should be done, then tested calling out/in, texting out/in and data

Hi @eddieO @hTideGnow  @ToniL

I will be moving another phone over to PM today.  In the instructions it said that I could port my old phone number over when i got my SIM.

I did not see that step in my activation earlier today.
Maybe I missed it.
This is why I ended up activating a new phone number,  And SMS was working everything.
Then i did a port request to move my phone number over to PM from my old provider.
Then the SMS didn't work right away.  2FA was pointing to activation phone number.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the responses.  This is awesome.
I resolved my issues.
1) i can send and receive text.  The service took a little while <60mins to transfer over from the activation number to the ported number after the port was initiated.

2) i was able to update through the mobile app my current PHONE # so the 2FA goes to the correct number.
I am now able to login and good to go.

@Ray_Gar1 it's likely that similar to your SMS, it just needs a little more time to finalize the porting process. Since you are not getting the 2FA code sent to your ported number you should be able to click on the option "Did not get code" and then choose to receive it via the email on your account, at least for now

Hi EddieO
i can make and receive calls.
My SMS took a bit of time to initialize to the ported number.
however my 2FA login code still is getting sent to the original PubMob num my card got activated with before i ported my old number.
I'm unable to open another browser to login in.  I'm doing this on an existing session.

Just an update. I can send and receive SMS to my friends with my ported phone number.  So my SMS is now working but the 2FA login on the Public Mobile site is still sending the code to the original activation phone number and not the ported number.
Will that take a while to update?

It's working now.  It was delayed in the service getting initialized.

HI @Ray_Gar1

so you can receive inbound calls and data work and just not sms?

you are on iPhone or Android?

if iPhone, remove the phone number from iMessage settings, reboot and reenter phone number

if Android, you can uninstall Google Message, reboot and reinstall and try

When did you ported?  i remember i had something similar to that the first few hours after porting.   after that everything went smooth!.   just give it a few hours you should be ok!

@Ray_Gar1 as a first step, try restarting your phone, this often helps.

are you able to receive calls? If the number porting did not complete you may be able to call out but not receive calls in. Did you respond 'YES' within 90 minutes to your old provider's request to transfer out your number ?
