Moving to Another Province

rocket222
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I will be moving to another province.  I read about changing the number in other posts.  But what I want is to port out my existing number to some other cheaper service outside Public Mobile, so I can still use the number when I come back.  And I want to add another number to my Public Mobile account with the area code for the new province I am going.

Am I still able to keep my loyalty, referral, and auto pay bonuses?

And which one shall I do first: port out the existing number, or adding a new number for the new province?

Both @hTideGnow and @benfatto have good suggestions for you. Fongo is also a good choice for a voip #. You can utilize your call forwarding options depending on your access to data or Wi-Fi.

Or you could refer yourself and activate another account with the $15 plan and take advantage of the $25 (×2) bonus referral credit. You could stagger a suspension or just pay the discounted price of $10 ($15 - $5=$10)×2=$20 for two lines minus any rewards/points. If your current phone account is on the rewards program having a secondary phone account on the points program that you keep suspended most of the time once you return to your home province can work well as a data account with points accruing even when suspended.

HI @rocket222   You can still take advantage of the $25 on both sides if you refer your new account.  So, that is a total of $50.  Maybe setup a new account quick and it saves a bit of money that way

@rocket222  Unfortunately to retain Rewards you must pick a new number in the area code you wish, then another when you return. Unless you have 100's of contacts using your number, it should be relatively painless.
Another option would be TextNow with a number in the new region and forwarding your current PM number to it.

@rocket222   Sorry, no.  Porting out closes your account immediately, so if you plan to do that, make sure remove any payment card from your account as you lose access to it after the transfer.

Sorry, but this cannot be done. Porting out closes the account.
