Just joined Public Mobile and having problems with network. Keeps going on and off constantly. Tried to switch off wifi but still doing the same. With Fido never had such problems. Is it because of weak signal on 3G?Smiley Sad

No problem. Thanks for your help. Will keep digging till I find the root cause of the problem.

A few things to check as some people may have already suggested

- Check your coverage area, if you are at the edge of a service area for PM that might cause your issue. Fido is with Rogers and Public mobile is with Telus so depending on the area tower coverage may be less

-Did you Program the access point name appropriately? I had to manually put in the information for Public mobile (the telus one appeared automatically but you need to insert the public mobile access point)

- Did you check your phone compatibility with public mobile prior to setting up? You can check this on the site?

Unfortunately not. I do have 2 fido sim cards from other phones in the house. As I mentioned, this is my first time using public mobile. Both my phones are unlocked so shouldn't encounter any problems on that end.

Sorry, anybody on one of Telus' carriers, Telus or Koodo would work. Have you checked the coverage maps? Are you on the edge of a service area? I would think if your fido works good that this would not be the cause, but it is worth checking. As it does it in both your phones, the S5 and I assume a newer phone I would be looking into the SIM, but I am not sure how or if a faulty Sim could cause that issue.

Actually I did. I first tried it on my samsung 5s and then changed it to another phone. Same **bleep** thing.

Do you know anyone else with a PM Sim that you could try in your phone?

No, I tried it at various spots and even out of the wall area ( in the backyard and keeps loosing signal.

Put your SIM in that other phone and see how it works. What phone do you have?

EDIT: providing that other phone is either unlocked, or already on the Telus-Koodo-Public Mobile network.

Yes, I keep loosing the signal. Tried to text from another phone and got the text after 20 mins once the signal came on.

That is correct. It goes and comes on its own. I keep on seeing the 3G logo and the cross on the network signal. Don't understan why.

@deedadina is this in one spot/area?  If so, it might be that you are in an area of weak coverage.  If you're seeing it in mulitple locations, then it's likely something else.

Although it says it is 3g you are actually on the Telus LTE network, with youe speed throttled to 3g speeds.

Hi and welcome.

When you say going on and off, do you mean you keep losing the network?

EDIT: What exactly is happening?
